I know just what you are talking about, it happened to me about 3 weeks ago. When I mentioned it to my GB Surgeon - He also did my gall bladder on Wed- He said it sounds like I had a severe dumping episode. I don't think that could be right as I had just woken up from 8hours of sleep. But now that everyone keeps saying blood pressure I wonder if that could be it. I had very boarderline low blood pressure readings the whole time I was in the hospital for my Gall Bladder surgery. They sent me home with a 101/70 blood pressure. I think that is way too low. So, what do they propose to do about it? Reversal? NO WAY! Joy

Dina, I think you've hit the nail on the head. I'm with Joy, I ain't reversin' nuthin'. I'll take the dizziness. I'm not sure what to do about it though. My blood pressure has been as low as 83 over 60 - that I know about. I have a feeling it's bottomed out lower than that. Connie

YES YES YES. This has happened to me too, and I have no idea why. I had one last week, and the first thing I did was grab a protein bar and scarf it down. I was thinking it had to do with not eating enough protein. It also happened to me one morning in when I was in Atlanta---I had Raisin Bran that morning, and thought maybe it was (again) a lack of protein, or sugar on an empty stomach. I have no idea why it happened. Joan

Hi Connie; If not a sugar issue, I would suspect low blood pressure. Are you absolutely sure about the hydration question?? I have had a few dizziness issues of late and I was able to trace all of them back to de-hydration. I seem to need a lot of liquid especially when I'm active. I hope you can figure it out because those episodes can be very scary. Mike

Now I'm no doctor but I have one suggestion that might mean nothing at all But...Have you have your ears checked? I had this strange thing years ago that was an inner ear problem. I was so dizzy that I fell down scared me 1/2 to death thought I was dieing or having a heart attack or a stroke. Ended up being labrathitis. Please excuse the spelling I"m terrible at that. The labrathitis or "Inner Ear" Infection makes you feel very dizzy and sick to your stomach sometimes like motion sickness, you can get the sweats with it too and cause its scarey your heart races. The first time I got it my husband at the time called 911 it was that scarey. I was walking down the hallway and without any warning at all keeled over to the side and slid down the wall. There was no way I could stop it. Whenever I woudl move my head it would start up again. That was a sever case. Since then I've had it on and off depending on allergies. Yup its allergy season. I didn't get allergies until I was in my late 20's. I use to take allergy pills daily up until the surgery then for some reason things cleared up I thnk because I wasn't eating any wheat products at all. The past few months I have been taking an allergy pill daily because the pollen has been really bad this year. Plus I've added some wheat products to my diet and I coudl feel the dizzies coming. So who knows? Maybe my dizzys now were from low blood sugar cause I do get that but I do also have to say when I get the low blood sugar thingy it feels different than the dizzies from the allergies. I usually get shakey from the low blood thingy. I talked to Dr A & Elenia. they checked my blood levels eveyrthing was good except for the low blood levels so they told me when I have my snacks to add some carbs to it. Usually I have a cheese stick in the afternoon so now I have the cheese stick and some raisins. Seems to be working. I keep snack pack things like raisins or prunes in my pocketbook in case it hits when I'm at work. I hope everyting works out ok for you and truthfully I'm hoping its the ears not somethign to do with our surgery! I also agree NO going back!!!! I love the new me! good luck and god bless, Pam

Those of you who said blood pressure win the prize. I saw the nephrologist today about my kidneys. My blood pressure was 90/70 and then 86/63 and then 93/67 or something like that. My blood pressure usually runs low these days and as it turns out, that's common for people who have low blood volume and low blood volume isn't uncommon in people who have had wls. The answer is more liquids. In addition to the liquids, more foods with sodium. I now have to start taking 1500 mg of calcium until I get my bone density back up. I see kidney stones in my future, but it's either that or broken bones. Pam, I know what you mean about the ear thing. I've had dizziness from ear problems before and that's no fun. Connie

I had the same thing happen to me (and I also have low blood pressure from before wls) and I was told to drink more water. When your dehydrated you blood pressure goes low and that's when it happens. Hope this helps, but doesn't hurt to check your ears.
