KEN, WHEN IS YOUR SURGERY???
Thanks for thinking of me. You know it is funny about life after WLS that you are able to do so much, so you go out and do it. I have lurked a few times but I haven't been on the computer much.
Here is the scoop. My mother-in-law is nearly 85 years old and has health issues. She currently lives in a six bedroom, four bath home that is sound, but needs to be updated. Long ago, it was decided that as part of the estate, we would get the house at a very low price. Well, my mother-in-law needs help nightly, so we decided to buy the house now, move into the basement, and let her have the upstairs. So, I have gutted the basement, and put in nearly new everything. So my life has basically been work and working on the house. The basement is over 2000 sq feet alone. I also remodeled an upstairs bedroom as a guest room. So this is an example of my Saturday. Up at 5:00, ran 2.5 miles and lifted weights. Went grocery shopping for my family and my mother-in-law. To the tile store at 9:00 and then I proceeded to lay ceramic tile until 8:00 pm.
As far as the surgery goes. I have moved it until 2/14/06. I have to finish the house, move in and do some things to my existing house to sell. The date was putting too much pressure on me and I think it isn't a good idea to not be ready for any surgery. I wanted Jan., but the first date he had available was 2/14. Not the best date for a romantic VD, but we'll celebrate the hell out of 2/13 and then present the even smaller me about six weeks later.
I'm running in a 5K race this Friday called "Burn the Bird". I wish I could do the 10K, but I haven't been able to train like I need to run 6.2 miles. I am going to run the 5 mile Ice Breaker in April. It will be interesting to run it without the excess skin.
But back to my point. I can't believe what I can accomplish since surgery. As I no longer snore, I requre less sleep then I did prior to surgery. I used to retire around 10:00 pm and sleep until 6:30 or so. Now I usually in bed around midnight and up by 5:00 to workout. And I feel better and more rested then I did before. Plus, there is no way I could have worked eight to nine hours, and then go put in three or four hours of physical labor after prior to having surgery. Is life just the best?
Sorry I haven't been around. I hope this helps fill in the gaps.
Thanks for your update Ken, & wow you are a busy man. The house
sound great & you are right don't do the surgury until you are ready to
slow down some. You will beed to rest to get back to better health. Don't
