What is the minimum and the maximum protein grams we need to take in every day? I know I fall short because I do not eat right because I work 11p-7am.

Sharon, it is imperative that you take in at least 60 grams of protein a day; optimally, you need between 70-100 grams. Your carbohydrate intake should not exceed 60 grams per day; and you must drink your water (64-80 oz. per day), take your vitamins as recommended by your surgeon and PCP - and just take good care of yourself. I try to concentrate on these aspects of my health every day so that I have that much less energy focused on bad eating choices! Best of luck, sweetie. Maureen

Hi Sharon, I am also one of those night shift people I work 12-8 & seem to be eating all of the time lately. Never really hungry, just eating as I think I need to. Real stupid, but, don't have any other answer for you. I still try to stick to mostly protein otherwise I get even craizier. According to the scaleI have actually gained 10 lbs in 3 days I don't see how that is possible, accept that I am dealing with menopause crap & it seems to get worse every month. I have been to the gym twice this week which an improvement over last week by far. I haven't had much luck in staying away from the office Holiday goodies. I try, but it sure has been a tough week. I want to go back to my old habits. I have to fight it every minute & every hour of evry day. when I am not sleeping . Mike probably has a better schedule down over me, by a long shot. Maybe he can shed some light on how he manages his day. Merry Christmas!! Marilyn, the Bearlady

Yes, the night shift doesn't help for proper eating. As I mentioned in previous posts, I eat breakfast when I get home from work. I eat dinner with the family in the evening after I wake up. I bring lunch to work which consists of a half-sandwich and some cold veggies with lo-fat Italian dressing (makes the cold veggies pretty tasty). I try to keep lo-fat cheese sticks around for snacking....it's extra protein and better than the usual snack food. My meals have been good in general.....it's the other snack food that is my downfall.....when I stay away from the grazing, I do pretty well. Every day is a battle and I don't always win, but I keep fighting. Good luck Sharon and try to get the protein in first.....it makes it easier to avoid the junk!! Mike
