Topic: RE: 2nd week Exercise Challenge
I don't keep up with my shopping, etc... time. I exercised 3 times during the week for 40 min each. Then I walked/jogged 19 miles on Saturday (in the pouring rain) as I trained for the marathon with my group. It took 4 hours and 10 min. I was so afraid that morning that I wouldn't be able to do it, and I am so proud of myself for finishing. My husband came to cheer me on, and I was very grateful near the end. I thought I wouldn't be able to do it. It feels good to have my body working for me instead of sitting on the couch for days like a few months ago. In fact, I am proud of all of us for exercising in whatever form we choose. Go Marchers! (BTW, my total for the week is 6 hours)

That's wonderful. I love to see a great success story! I'm happy for you. It's so fun to be able to shop at any store you want.

I checked out your profile and you are doing just what you should. Congrats on the exercising. I hope it is still going well. You were in a 30/32 and now you are in a size 16. Your clothing size is half of what it used to be. That's cool. Also, for me, around size 16, I stopped losing weight as quickly, but I started dropping sizes quickly. Our bodies are so weird - try and let go of the scale (although I can't) and watch your clothing sizes. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi,
Sorry that you are feeling so down- you really are not slow. I had surgery at 324 and today I am around 223 so that is just 101 down for me and I have only lost about 4 pounds in the last month or so. I am feeling down on myself too but we need to remember that the more we loose, the less we have to loose and it will get slower and slower. Add some exercise and see if that helps...

As I read through the message board and see how well everyone is doing at this surgery I am in tears. I have even managed to fail at this. I had my surgery 3/8/05 and have only managed to lose about 90 pounds. The scale goes up and down I don't feel I have been a real success since 6 months out. I have now started listening to that voice that says who cares....eat that cake, fast food, whatever you want it doesn't matter. But it does TO ME!! I was so encouraged going into this surgery and now I can't even get to the century club approaching 9 mos. out every single pound is a struggle. Do I need to starve myself? Everyone else seems to be passing me like a speeding bullet. Oh well enough of this pity party for one. Thanks for reading.

Melinda,
I did much better this week. Went to the zoo Friday and walked the whole time- part of it with my nephew on my hip so that is 1 1/2 hours , then on Saturday, went to the Christmas made in the South show and walked 2 straight hours. Sunday, I did major cleaning and Christmas decorating from about noon-8pm, moving furniture and everything. I just could not sit still yesterday. I know we don't count normal cleaning so just count yesterday as 4 hours... so 1.5 + 2 + 4 = 7.5 hours
way better than last weeks 1 but .... alas the scale did not move yet- still at 223

Topic: My 8 month 2 week check up
Hey everyone hope all is well. I haven't been around much lately, been getting all those fall chores done. Also started to do some Christmas shopping in between. I did find time to see Dr. Brolin on the 18th of November. It was officially 8 months and 2 weeks since my surgery. I find it hard to believe that much time has passed. I haven't seen him since the second week in July and it is not like I missed him terribly(although he is my savior) I was anxious to go and get weighed. I don't know if any of you remember but I never weigh myself. I listen to people on here getting nervous when they have a stall and didn't want to be on that same emotional rollercoaster so I never get on the scale, unless I see Dr. Brolin.
My 3 major visits went like this, down 35 pounds after 2 weeks. Then the second week in July, my 4 month visit, down a total of 103 pounds. Now my 8 month 2 week check up I am officially down 167 pounds. I have almost lost half of myself! My weight was 366 and now I am 199. I am off all of my meds. My knees don't hurt. I am replacing the clothes I bought just 2 monthes ago. Went from a size 34 to a 16.
It's amazing, the whole experience has been wonderful. I have been given the gift of a second chance and I have been reborn into a healthy, happy. normal functioning woman. My life is more beautiful then it's ever been. I thank you all for being there for me and sharing your stories. It has helped tremendously. I love you all!
