Terry, For me exercise is the key. When I do it(not often enough) I lose weight. I tend to do a lot of walking on the weekends but not during the week. I've thought about some of us Marchers having an exercise challenge. Something to keep us motivated. Just keep on plugging. You will get there. Just think of how far you've come. corgimom

Hi, Wow thanks for the excellant post and the link to the article. It sure did boost my spirits up. I saw that Trisha read the article too and I am so glad. I replied to her post right before I saw yours and was going to write her again and give her the link. I liked the site so well that I signed up for the newsletter! Thanks for letting us know that we are in control of the window and how far it is opened. Take care, Roxi

Hi Janice, Wow I want to thank you for the confirmation on the carbs. My doc never said too much about them except to keep them limited. I think you are soooo right tho and I am going to make a consious effort to stay off them too. I can't do bread, rice or pasta very well but I sure like crackers!!! There is an article that I read which was posted by Corgi mom about life after weight loss surgery and it is fantastic. It talks about the window of opportunity and the bottom line is that it is up to us...if we do it right then the weight will keep coming off and it will stay off a lifetime. Please read it if you get the chance. I was so impressed that I even signed up for the free monthly newsletter. I think your weight loss is fantastic! Can't wait to be in the 150's! My daughter had WLS in May and she is down about 62 lbs now. She also needed to lose 100 lbs. By the time I am done I want to have lost 155 from the date of surgery. Keep up the great work and we will all keep encouraging each other!

Hi Trisha, Yes you can do it!!!! We all make poor choices at times but you have done wonderful with your weight loss. You are always an inspiration to me when I read your posts on this board. Take one day at a time and be good to yourself. I know you can do this.....just try to make better choices each day. Sometimes baby steps are the best way to handle food choices. If I feel deprived I start to crave food and I know it is all in my head. We can do this together!!! Roxi

Hi Terri, I am struggling with slow weight loss now too. I have found that on the days that I don't take in very many carbs I do better. I love crackers and nuts but do better without them. I hope you do reach onederland by your birthday but even if you don't you are so much closer to it than you were 7 months ago! Congrats on the great loss you have had so far. It is awesome. Just hang in there....we have to drop again sooner or later! Don't be too hard on yourself. Take care, Roxi

Hi, I am 7 months out and down 112 since I started this journey, putting me at 223 today. I will be 38 on December 21 and I really wanted to be under 200 by then. My weight loss has slowed ALOT in the past 4-5 weeks and I don't see me hitting that GOAL. I will admit that I do not exercise as much as I should and that is because I am busy enjoying life like never before and we are running the roads all the time (and I have 2 kids and work full time outside the home as well) I take my vitamins and calcium and get my B-12 shot every day. I try to get plenty of protein, but I find myself drawn to veggies and salads and fruit. I eat some pasta and bread but it is very limited and I eat wheat pasta and whole grain bread when I do (except for that white bread bananna sandwich last week). I have a little over 5 weeks to do this. Can anybody give me some guideance on how to do this?? Thanks

Topic: RE: WLS, Hernia Repair, Paniculectomy, Tummy Tuck...all in 7 months
Kirsten, Congratulations on your successes. I too have lost alot of weight very rapidly. I think that increasing my activity is the key to my success. Up until surgery two weeks ago, I was participating in aerobics M,W,and S and running or walking all of the other days of the week. My bariatrician was surprised that I had met my goal in 6 months. I am now below goal. My recent, unanticipated , surgery put my tummy tuck on the back burner for a few months, or I'd be there with you. It is amazing to see how people react to the "new" you isn't it? The comments, praise, and new looks are at times overwhelming and I also look in the mirror and wonder-what are others seeing?- because I just don't see what they see. I know I'm smaller--from a size 24W to size 8 prior to tummytuck--but there are times I look in the mirror and still see a fat person. I think the best we can do is appreciate the praise with "thank-you's" and smiles and hope that our body image changes in the near future. Again Congrats on you success. {{{Hugs}}} Meg

Hi Guys! Don't be discouraged. You're doing so well!! Your weight loss will pick up! Ask yourself if there is anything you can do to spark your weight loss again. For example, when I went for my appt with my bariatrican in May, he told me he wanted me to walk at least 10,000 steps everyday . I researched pedometers on Consumer reports and bought the one they suggested--it's $35.00-not cheap-but extremely accurate-and tailored for you. It's an Omron walking style pedometer. Adding that activity, along with my diet, whi*****ludes protein supplements, has lead to a whopping 65lb loss since May 20th (avg 10+lbs a month). Can you increase your activity or your protein? Your weight loss will pick up again -- you just need to rekindle the process. Good Luck!! {{{Hugs}}} Meg
