Topic: A WOW experience!
I usually attend several local government meetings on a monthly basis. Because of conflicts in the past two months, I've been unable to attend one of my largest meetings since June. Last week, there was a presentation by a consultant that required "expert" testimony from me at the meeting. The county administrator, whom I've worked with for several years on a regular basis but haven't seen since June, did not recognize me before or during the meeting until he heard me speak to the group. He broke into the testimony to exclaim that I was looking great and notified the entire audience (about 75 people and TV crews) that I had lost at least an entire person. I wondered why he didn't acknowledge me when I entered the room and waved at the start of the meeting! Needless to say I was a little embarrassed but when I thought about it later on the drive home, realized how much of a change I've actually been through in a short 6 months time. I love what's happening to me! Just had to share it with you all. Dave

Topic: RE: 6 month check up - Hernia
I have a few hernias that I think came on shortly after surgery. I noticed the first 6 weeks I was unable to lie on my side like other wls patients do. Then I kept having this feeling like when you are on a ride at cedar pointe and it drops down suddenly you get that feeling in your stomach ,I have that off and on. After I eat an uncomfortable feeling like pressure is in the abdomen and the upper part of my stomach extends outward where the hernias are,I wear my binder at night to help with the heavy feeling in my abdomen an a coresset during the day, but other wise they arent too bad. I will be getting surgery when I am more at my goal weight so I can get the hernias repaired and a TT at the same time.

Heidi, I have a lump about the size of a quarter about 2 inches from the top of my incision. When I push on it it goes"back in". I don't know if I am describing it well. It only hurts a little bit when you manipulate it. I have had no vomiting or anything but the doc said it could get worse if I don't get it repaired. Terry

just hit my 6 month anniversary, i'm 5 lbs. from joining the century club (-95 lbs.) and 32 lbs. from my personal goal weight. (which is higher than my surgeon's, the nut thinks i should weigh 137 lbs!) kind-of a disappointing month, as i'd hoped to be past the 100 lbs. lost mark by now, and i only lost 8 lbs. this month compared to 14 last month. my husband is a bad influence! (at least i didn't GAIN 4 lbs. on vacation like he did, hehe) still, i feel fantastic and though i'm still in the same size, everything is really loose. taekwondo is going really well, i finally got my last stripe and get to do belt testing in a month. my husband is probably going to join me in TKD classes, and we're also going to start tag-teaming on the bowflex next week, as well as doing some jogging/walking now that the weather isn't (as) oppresively hot & humid. it will be so nice to have a workout partner! on to the pics: http://www.knology.net/richardson/progresspics.html the before & after is updated on my profile as well. michelle 277/182/150?

How do you know you have a hernia? Were you vomiting or in pain? What is the pain like? Heidi

It's so odd, isn't it? To feel bones in places you aren't used to feeling them. But then there's something familiar about it, too. Heidi

Topic: RE: Water Pills?
Angela, Weighing every day can make us nuts!! My doc gave me a water pill to take around my period but because I was having blood pressure issues due to the fluid retention. I would recommend weighing only once a week though, it's a great way to see a lot of progress in a little amount of time. Toni
