Topic: Who still uses supplements?
Hi everybody!!! I lurk alot and don't post (so sorry) but I do check on everyone. Everyone is doing so well!!!
I was just wondering if anyone was still doing protein supplements. My nut told me to get in 70-100 grams of protein a day. Well, I was (all through food) but went to the surgeon last week and they still want me to supplement until I'm 2 years out. They said even if I'm getting at least 70 from food that I'm not absorbing!! Grrr. I wish I could get a straight answer. Of course, I'm going to follow what my surgeon says but was just curious was to what everyone else is doing.
What type and how much if any are you consuming?
Thanks
Denise

Topic: RE: a silly question
The first time I ate bread, it was part of a whole wheat english muffin--I got sick--ate too much or too fast or something, but it got stuck and eventually it came back up but boy it made me misserable in the mean time. That was enough to curb my interest in breads for a long time. Even at over 13 months out, I rarely eat breads other than maybe a bite or two. I went out for lunch today and had chilli and cornbread. The cornbread was a very large piece and I ate about a one inch slice. It was delicious, however I could tell it had more sugar in it than I should have and probably one more bite would have put me over the edge with dumping. I brought home half of the chilli and 3/4 of the cornbread for later and my husband may end up with the cornbread.
I had soup, at the Olive Garden, when I first went there. They are not very WLS friendly (the restraunt chain and the food) so I do not go there very often. I think as early out as you are I would try someplace else to go. At your stage, I ate mostly soups, chilli or beans when we went out. Now I usually order chicken, chilli, etc. and bring a lot of it home. I can eat meat now pretty well but that has developed over the last 3 to 4 months. Time will allow you to eat more of the things you want to eat, but be carefull how many carbs you allow into your life, with the breads and pastas as they can be your undoing. Julia

That's great. Isn't it strange how we lose weight, sometimes nothing and then several pounds all of a sudden and all the while we are doing everything the same?

Topic: a silly question
Hello Everyone
I just had my lap RNY on April 30th 2007. My question for you is what do you eat when you go out to eat. I want some fettucine alfredo from Olive Garden in the worst way. I keep telling myself that someday I can get a bite of it. Maybe even a nibble of a breadstick. At this point the head hunger is killing me. So can you please tell me what you eat when going out, and if you've ate at Olive Garden since what did you get?
Thanks for anwsering my silly question. I want the weight off so I'm trying to find new ways of battling the head hunger

I dropped under 180 this morning--just barely at 179.8 but none-the-less under 180. I have lost a little over 3 pounds in a week. That is quite an increase in my loss of the past few months, sometimes not losing that much in a month! Hope it keeps going. Julia
