Topic: Back to Basics in the Morning
Hello one and all! The board has been suspiciously quiet lately, I hope we're all out there living the good life! I am the proud new mother of three kittens and if i can ever figure out how to put a picture in my profile you'll get to see them, if not you'll have to take my word for how cute they are! I have fallen off the band wagon and I need to get back on. Thankfully the scale is no worse for wear but I don't want to wait until I start gaining anything to get back on track. Monday morning will mean i'll be packing my breakfast, lunch and two snacks for work, it'll mean that I take a 24 ounce water bottle to work so that I can keep filling and refilling it until i get in the minimum of 64 ounces of fluid. Monday morning means I'll don a pedometer and walk at work so that I remind myself to take the stairs and not the slow moving elevator! What will you do to get you back on track if you've fallen off? If you haven't fallen off how to do remain on the straight and narrow, what keeps you so well grounded? Andi

Ah, Jean! You are just too sweet; I could come hug ya! I'd just love to have my BMI normal ... I may never get there though! I feel like I could stand to lose another 10 pounds. But compared to a year ago, I'm pretty darn happy with where I'm at! Thanks so much for being sooooo sweet! Deanna

Hi Jean What excatly is DCF? I am calling and have called welfare on her AGAIN on Monday. I guess I am going to call a lawyer,too. She is living at a motel now,salvation army paid for it,I guess.... She is mad at me now and I don't have the kids. I went off on her on Thursday night,think she probably wanted to go out and I told her I was alittle tired of all this and had things to do. I told her I work,take care of 3 kids,clean house,laundry,cook,have to take them to her in the mornings before work and she is just sitting at her moms doing nothing,not working or anything!! She got mad and said all I wanted was for her to sign papers,which I asked her to do,so if anything happens to the kids while in my care I can get some assistance for them,thats why I'm mad!!!!. The paper was just incase something would happen while in my care I could take them to the hospital,etc.... Then my hubby is mad cause they are staying in a motel!! Its easy for him,hes not here!! I know he would be and is looking for a different job to be home more to help out. But I just needed alittle break right now!! Thanks!

My doctor said it does NOT stop!, it slows down . with fats and food we still will not get the vitamins with out supplements.

Deanna you are a beautiful athlete. your body cant loose much more with your workout routine, you have built muscle. it weighs more than fat. Don't beat yourself up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you are a success story, right now the way you are...sometimes I feel like you're mom (i have a 25 yr old daughter) who wants to give you a big hug and tell you you are perfect..and it's alright!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so (((big hug)))))))))) (you ARE perfect!))))

Sorry The routine is not working for you , so change it! I have lost,(but if I eat carbs I do see the scale creeping up or stopping) my doctor says we can. but it slows done because the malasorbtion does not stop, but is less then at first. you will have to cut out the carbs and adjust you exercise. then you will loose. its impossible for you body to hold on the the extra weight forever(if you are eating right) . Deanna is pure muscle and she wont get smaller while she is so athletic, you might be the same? I don't know? but if you not in the "normal" range then you need to decrease your calories and adjust your work outs.

Why don't you get DCF involved and see if they will take them away from her and give them to you? I am really sorry you are going through all of this!

What I've read & understand from recent posts is that our bodies 'compensate' for the lost legnths of intestine, by growing additional 'nodules (I don't know the correct term!!) - you know, the sticky out bits all along our intestines that do the absorption, on the remaining intestine, thus gaining back the surface area of the intestine to absorb by. I've only just starting reading this in the last month - haven't heard anything before then, so mayeb it's a new thought/discovery? All my surgeon said at the time of my wls was that one third of weight loss was from malabsorption, and two thirds from reduced intake. No mention of a time limit in this.

I don't understand how malabsorption could "stop" ... it's not like our intestines grow back longer. Part of them were bypassed ... they don't re-grow back. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something! I'd love to hear more ... Deanna
