Topic: RE: Not losing as much as everyone else :-(
surgery 8/14/07
To date I have lost 50 lbs, so we have almost lost the same (in fact you have lost more then me). Everyone loses at a different rate. Having started as a relative light weight (212 lbs on petite five foot frame...NOT PRETTY). I am losing slower then others, even loser then some who started at same/similar weight. My body is so used to yo-yo dieting it stalls out every so often. It took forever for me to break the 170 lbs mark, and now I have been stuck at 161 lbs. I try not to get discourgaed, becuase I know after a few weeks at 161 BAM I will get on the scale & have a loss of a few pounds. I believe my slower weight loss to be due to cronic dieting & the body adjusting. HANG IN THERE! Also I notice on weeks were I can get closer to my protien goal, I lose more.
Topic: RE: Do you have a weight loss pattern?
you and I seem to have similar pattern. I stay consitant for two weeks, then get on the scale BAM 3-4 lbs loss.
Topic: RE: How is every one doing with clothes?
I started out in 18/20 pants and extra large or 1X shirts...now 14 petite pants, and meduim shirt. WOW!

Hi Brenda,
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I know for sure I am not getting in my 60 ounces of water each day that my surgeon wants. I may get 45 oz of liquid total. That is counting my 8 oz for each protein shake I drink. I drink 2 a day. I do real well with the protein part. However, when I start drinking alot of fluids it fills my pouch up really fast to where I can't take in any more. I know I need to be happy of far I have come and not be so down on myself. It's just so hard when I read our local forum and know these people had surgery after me and have lost more. Alot of them are my Gastric Bypass friends. I feel so much better since the surgery. I have no regrets whatsoever. I appreciate your kindness. I would like to add you to my friends list if that is okay with you.
Big Hugs!
Mary

Thanks Donna for the reply. I can always use encouraging words... especially now that I have hit a stall. I didn't think to measure myself before surgery. I think I actually didn't want to know. Thanks friend!!
Hugs back at ya,
Mary

I know that my weight management program director/nurse educator has told me many many times that if I notice I'm not losing like I should be I'm probably not getting enough protein and fluids. It's not one or the other, but both that are important. I needed to be reminded how important the fluids are along with the right amount of protein per day. I was also told that I'd lose between 10-20 lbs per month and not to get discouraged if I wasn't losing as fast as I thought I should be. I had surgery August 2nd and have lost 48 lbs since surgery. At 4 months out, that's 12 lbs per month that I've lost. I know it doesn't seem like much when put in that perspective, but also remember, we didn't gain this weight overnight and it's not gonna come off overnight. When I feel myself starting to get discouraged I remind myself that in the 4 months and 14 days since my surgery I've not gained one single pound back and I'm still losing, even if slowly. As long as I have a loss, I'm gonna be a happy camper!
. I hope this helps you feel better. I'm feeling better, and doing more now than I've done in YEARS. You're doing GREAT and don't forget that! We're all in this together, and together we'll reach our goals! ((((((((fellow GBS recipients)))))))).
God bless you and welcome to the losers club!!
Brenda

Don't worry it will come off, maybe check your inches. Ive had the same problem Ive only lost 58lbs so far but Ive gone from a size 18-20 to a 12. Ive lost a lot of inches and Im on a stall again right now. Hang in there hun it will drop like crazy before you know it.

Make sure you are getting enough calories also. Soon we will be hearing about the pounds that just melted away "overnight".
