Hi Maya, You're not kidding! That chili was soooooo good. I ate half for dinner and half for snack. I'm hoping the fiber helps another problem that I've been having. Also I finally got my period today(the first time since surgery) and I'm hoping that will help with the hunger. jen

Topic: RE: Found out what problem is
Hi Brenda! I havent seen my Dr yet post op, but I see him next Tuesday. However...I also have the same problem with burping. I feel as If I have to burp all the time and after I eat/drink anything! Most of the time I do burp, but sometimes I can't and it's irritating because the feeling is still there. Also, I havent had much trouble keeping things down but I do get a pain in the middle of my chest a LOT when I eat. 3 x's it made me dump the pain was so bad. Do you think I could have the same problem as you do? Thanks! Brenda (BizzyB)

One month out yesterday for me. (LAP RNY 8/13) I'm down 21.8 lbs and I can eat pretty many things also as long as it's chewed REALLY well and smaller amounts. No red meat tho. Haven't tried that yet. Kind if scared of it because I don't want to get anything stuck. Love my chicken & fish and I'm lovin that scale movement too!! Yes, Life IS Good!!!

Topic: Bob McQueen - MO - Friday, 9/14 Update
OH Family, Please support our Missouri brother Bob McQueen and his family in their time of need. He's been struggling and clinging to life in the hospital in Columbia after his bariatric surgery for over a month now. Bob needs our help, well-wishes and prayers. For those who have taken time to send a card or an email, thank you so much. Friday, September 14th - 11:15am I just got off the phone with Lori McQueen (Bob's wife) and here is the latest update... Bob is still unconscious and has not come to for any significant length of time. He has however opened his eyes from time to time. It's important to remember that he was under heavy sedation for an extended period of time so it's not unusual for the drugs and their effects to linger in the system. Nurses did turn Bob over on his side yesterday at which time he did open his eyes and had his wits about him enough to focus on the side rail of the bed and grab it with his hand...so that's a positive step. Bob is fidgeting and moving around in his bed quite a bit so they do have him strapped in for his safety. Just a few minutes before I spoke to Lori she said she rubbed on Bob's chest with a good amount of pressure in hopes to aggravate him enough to wake up, but he didn't come to. On Wednesday, they did have a scare - that was later discounted and thought to be a result of over-medication. Bob's heart rate dropped dangerously low for a period of time. Soon after Cardiologist did and ECG which showed no issues and it was thought to be a one-time issue caused by his meds and no cause for concern. This morning, 2 out of 3 of Bob's JP drains were removed and Dr. Scott believes the third can be removed soon. They opted to leave the third drain in just as a precaution. Lori said that Bob's bed has been raised bit by bit over the last several days in hopes to help Bob breathe more on his own...as he does so, they will lower the ventilator settings bit by bit. If he continues to make progress, it's believed that he may be off the ventilator in approximately 2 weeks. Once the ventilator is removed, and if Bob is conscious, they will be able to remove the feeding tube and get him on fluids/nutrition orally. Doctors have told Lori that if all goes well in the next two weeks or so...off the ventilator, regains consciousness, etc that it might be possible to move Bob to a rehabilitation facility in Mt. Vernon, Missouri which is closer to their home. Since he's been unconscious and bed ridden for so long, he's going to require a considerable amount of physical therapy and rehab in order to get functioning fully again (including walking). Lori is going back home today to spend time with their kids and also will have to work a few days prior to returning to Columbia. There is family there in Columbia to check in on Bob while she's away. Thankfully Dr. Scott has provided a letter of medical necessity for Lori to give to her employer which should excuse her absence from work without consequences. You gotta love Wal-Mart! Slow as it may seem, it does sound as if Bob is making progress. It's important for us to remember as Bob makes these tiny steps forward, that our well-wishes and prayers are more important than ever. Here is the URL again to send patient email directly to Bob: https://secure.muhealth.org/getwell/email.shtml Here is the address to the hospital for cards/flowers, etc: University Hospital One Hospital Drive Columbia, MO 65212 Thanks all! HI Luchianna, I've been having the same problem too. I am 4 weeks post op and I lost 20lbs the first 2 weeks but have only lost 1 pound in the last 2 weeks. It's driving me crazy!!!! I walk 2 miles 3 days weekly since week 2, I get enough protein, my water could be increased a few more ounces but other than that I don't know what the problem is. I actually thought that maybe RNY didn't work for me. So, its nice to hear others are going through the same thing and that it's to be expected. Good luck girl, Landa in RI

The Wendy's Chili is awesome. It will make you thank the powers that be. And it has 17 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber. I just had it for the first time yesterday. Also, beans are a natural source of protein so you can definitely have refried beans with some taco sauce and low fat mexican cheese and a small spoon of taco sauce. Even fast food refried beans and cheese like from Taco Bell are a good thing once in a while though they may have some trans fat. Grazing is hard not to do. I just try and have like some cheese or something. Thats my worst fear too! Maya

Hi, Wow, you have a much more liberal diet. Until last night, I was allowed to eat eggs, lowfat cheese, cottage cheese, canned meat like tuna and chicken, ground up chicken, yogurt, and protein drinks. I felt like I was going crazy. I have lost 22 lbs. also which I am happy with. After my preop diet, I had about 80 lbs. to lost so I expect to lose slower. The hunger thing is scary. I'm hoping that now that I'm able to start eating more foods, it will get better. One problem, I think, is that I'm able to eat such little portions, in 2 hours, I am hungry again. I don't want to develop a grazing habit so I try to drink more Crystal Lite. I'm going to try the Wendy's Chili for dinner tonight; it's kinda sad how excited I am about it. Jen

Don't feel bad. I can eat a small Wendy's Chili in one sitting and I also feel hungry. In fact, I have been having horrible carb/sugar cravings and I dont dump (tested it unfortunately). I am also very scared when I hear that people can't eat anything. As I can and have to control myself. I also have lost weight (about 18 lbs) but to be honest, its a lot slower than I expected after the first 2 weeks and I also had a stall. Maya
