I have been concerned about the circle under my eyes for months. That was the first thing I noticed after I lost a big amount of weight at month 3. Today I was thinking that it looks like I have circles that show where my skull bone isn't supporting my eye area. Like you could cut around the circle near my eyes to get to my skull - ugh. I hope it gets better. I asked my Dermatolgist about it. She said it is normal aging process to have these circles. She recommended a cream that was sold in her office "Remergent" and age retaliator serum microcirculation therapy. I assume a good salon or doctors office will have it. Or you can goggle the brand name Remergent to see if you can purchase it on line. The tube I bought was $74.00 it is suppose to last three months. She said it would take about four weeks to notice the new skin repairing the skin around the eyes. It looks better, but nothing like when I was younger. I think that I am turning into one of the vain people, I want plastic surgery on my stomach and my face now. Later Sami Sue

Take your iron with vitamin C, it helps it absorb - its best on an empty stomach but that bugs a lot of people. Iron also increases constipation so make sure you drink water and get enough fiber and consider taking a gentle stool softener like colace with your iron each day. Remember to never take your calcium and iron within two hours from each other, and don't take iron with milk or within two hours of eating/drinking anything that is calcium-rich. Calcium decreases absorption of iron, and our absorption is already decreased because of the surgery. I did have slightly low iron levels @ 3 months so I take Vitron C daily, with extra chewable vitamin C. I take it before bed because it usually upsets my tummy a little. I also had normal B-12 but I still take 2000mcg daily because if its even moderately low I feel very low-energy. Good luck!

I get the dark circles and sunken face look sometimes - being well hydrated and some extra sleep seems to help me the best, but most RNY patients go through a period where they look like death warmed over - it pretty common. My hair is also growing back and sticking straight up. The ones in front are the worst!

i am going to have my regular doctor do blood work in about 3 months to make sure my iron levels are better after I start taking iron pills. Thanks,

Yes, I'm tired. I thought it was work but now I wonder. The bark circles are bothing me. I wonder if they clear up. My bloodwork a few weeks ago was normal. Maybe I should get it checked again.

I got the dark circles too...Dr. told me to make sure I get enough vitamins. Are you feeling tired? I think our bodies kind of go into shock. My hair is doing the same thing too...lol...it is funny how you described exactly what I am going through. Good luck!!

Hi and thanks so much for responding. My hubby is in the Army and deployed right now. He is going to be retiring soon, when he gets back, so I am trying hard to get as much done surgically while we still have all the free medical care. I am not sure how it goes when he retires. The Dr. told me last time if I hit 145 he will remove all this skin around March or April. Well, that time frame is here and I am at about 149 on a good day lol. But I am so scared to get it done now, since I am basically a single Mom with a 4 and 9 year old. I know they will let my hubby come for max 30 days, but I cannot be immobile with two kids you know? It is scary. I also definitely do not want to be walking around for the rest of my life with all of this jiggly stuff either. I will not be able to afford say a 20% coshare to do it after he retires either. So, I guess it is a toss up. I am going to just be straight up with my Doc and let him decide what he thinks is best. Thanks so much for the reply and please, write me back and tell me what you think.

I think there is a plastics board. Considering our surgery date I doubt most of us are there yet, but getting close. Congrats! Maybe check your state board? I've been following the progress of someone on the SC board and I have to say I'm scared about PS at this point. But then I think...............I can't find a single pair of jeans that fit. Everything gives me muffin top. LOL. I want to wear jeans. I want to wear sleevless dresses and shirts. Is there such a thing as a sleeved evening gown? Yes, for little old ladies! I know if I ever want to wear fitted clothes I'll have to have a tt but so far it looks pretty gruesome. I will say the girl I was tracking was back to work in about 2 weeks which blew my mind because it seems much more extensive than RNY! Maybe it was horrible b/c she did so much so soon? I think if I have it done I am going to plan for at least three weeks out and spend them in bed!

Mine was fine but are you going to have to wait 6 months to find out if your b-12 or iron are normal? I'm not supposed to go back for 6 months either but I just had my regular doctor do my blood work too. You might want to check with your regular physician if you don't want to wait 6 months.

now I have horrible, big, black circles under my eyes. Anyone else? My stylist, whose mother has been through the surgery and has a few other clients who have done it as well, told me a few months ago that when the hair started coming back it would look like split ends. I'm glad she told me because my first thought was, "OMG now it's breaking off!" No, but it's growing straight up and I look like Alf-alfa! I have super curly hair so it's very fine, kinky and sticking straight up. Thank goodness it's coming back a little at a time and not all at once! But this week I've noticed something else. I have horrible dark circles under my eyes. I look very haggard even with a thick coat of Mac concealer. EeeK! I've also started to get a little of the hanging skin, especially in the bra area and belly area. TT here I come. I'm not complaining, this is still the best thing I've EVER done but now I'm seeing some of the not so good stuff I'm going to have to figure out how to deal with. I haven't seen a thing about dark circles and ps looks SCARY!
