I'm like you, not dumping is a good and bad thing. By not doing it, I worry if I will test the limits. The good thing is, while I do not dump, I do feel crappy for a bit so maybe it is a good compromise

Hi! You know, the closer you get to goal your weight loss will slow wayyyyyy down. I started at 278 in August, and now I am at 153. I have had a couple of stalls, but I just try to go back on the 60 gr. protein, with water water water, and I can start losing again. My Dr. goal is 145, my goal is 132 (after skin removal I will be around 115-120). I think alot of it has to do with WHAT you eat. Starches, processed foods, all of those things seem to keep me from losing. If I stick to a protein shake for breakfast, then a salad for lunch, protein shake for snack, and protein shake for dinner, I can get it going again. I work out every morning and walk about 3-5 miles daily on my treadmill too. It is an effort, but I will be damned I am going to go through all this and get fat again lol. I tell you, sometimes it is really rough. You are doing great with your weight loss though. We will all get there, one day at a time!

Yea the stalling thing SUCKS. i too work very ****y hours...{well with 3jobs an all its hard to have "good" hours haha}.....i am actually going to do the 5day pouch test with my coworker....we are starting tomorrow as a matter of fact cus we both work the 7am-10pm shift....so we have each other for motivation. Water is a major issue though, i mean i havnt really been a good tracker of anything {as in food or water} but im thinking that atleast if i have a whole med ice coffee and c few bottles of water throughout the day im fine.... its hard though i know. i wouldnt worry too much, you just need to get urself back into a routine keep up the good work!!

I seem to be reading the same from almost everyone on this page about the stalling. I have been pretty much the same weight since December and let me just tell you that it is very frustrating. I am going to try the 5 day thing and see if I can get that to start something up for me. I think my problem is truly that I maybe don't eat enough. I work very odd hours (10pm-6am) and find myself maybe snacking throughout the nite rather than "eating a meal". I also am very much aware that I don't get in enough H2O in my daily routine. I have just made a goal with a friend of mine that we were gonna start getting in 64oz of H2O a day and see if that will jumpstart something. I know I havn't really said anything in this post that hasn't already been said in other posts but you all must know that it is 313am and I am sitting at work trying with all that I am to just stay awake and by typing you my issues, I am thinking it is helping. Good luck to all that are in the same boat as me with this darn stall. Lets work our way through this together. Day of surg. weight 237 todays weight 161 mini goal 155 long term goal 140 Total lost to date 76pds.

I have had several kinds of drinks since surgery (beer, wine, margarita, mai tai, martini) and they did not affect me any differently than before surgery. I did not care as much for the margarita and mai tai as I did before surgery..... my taste for sweets has changed but I do not dump or I would never have tasted them in the first place. As far as the transfer addiction theory goes, my psychologist said there have been no conclusive studies done showing this is true and he considers it a myth at this point. He does do extensive counseling for WLS patients.

Yes, I have. My doctor said I could after 6 months. I've been fine with it but be careful, there have been reports of people having problems with alcohol after this surgery. We do not metabolize alcohol like we used to plus we weigh less plus we eat less so it can hit you very hard. Plus it can replace your food addiction with a new addiction so we all have to be careful of that. Also, the body burns alcohol calories FIRST every time so your body will have to burn off every drink you have before it will start on your regular calories. I did a little research and the lowest cal drink appears to be vodka and cranberry juice. I have used light cranberry juice for even less calories and carbs. They said wine is okay, too. Be CAREFUL!
