Minor Setback
Arg.
I had a minor setback this week.
I only weigh in once a week. This week, on weigh in day, I had a 6 month nurtitionist meeting. It went pretty good, mostly just talked about feelings and stuff since I'm just now getting back to where I can eat "normal" things (Normal for a six month post op person!)
Well, the weigh in part didn't go so well. Although I can tell I've lost inches (my size 46 (unbelivable) jeans, freshly washed, are fitting better, as do the size 46 slacks) but the scale showed a two pound increase.
I'm sure its from the salty/greasy food I had over the weekend. Oh well, the nutritionist was unconcerned. After all, I went through a radical weight loss during the cancer period, and my body was bound to adjust for that... and comparing the 30 pound loss to this two pound gain seems silly, but as you know this weeks number has a bigger impact on the psyche than last weeks.
Just have to tell myself that I look GOOD. And that I feel GOOD. I'm healthy, happy, and cancer-free. And move on.
I'll never catch my friend at 274... Back at 278. And no longer in the 150+ club.

Michael,
Don't sweat it...thank God you're not a woman! We have increases around that "time of the month" and we just have to get used to i****er gain, unpooped bowel, you name it will cause us to have a slight increase. Heck, I look at a piece of cake or walk by it and gain two pounds!
You body may be playing a "catch up" game or it may be shocked at another BIG weight loss and may try to hold on to the weight thinking you're trying to starve it.
Just exercise a bit harder today and tomorrow and it'll come off...
Great about the size 46 slacks...
How about some new updated pix for us to see??

Now that is really MINOR. I would not worry at at all about that. You are so right about the psyche, such a powerful force. 2lbs is nothing, stay with the bigger picture, and pat yourself on the bag (you can reach your back now I'm sure, and that's an accomplishment in itself).
Proud of you Michael.

Micheal,
Did you ever think that maybe it is just the difference in the scales? And if it isn't the scales at least you are healthy. I am sure it is frustrating, but I am sure you will lose that and more for next week. And we would like to see pictures-my camera will let you save a few pictures right on its memory, maybe you should check and see if your wifes can.
Christine

It ain't the scales. I use the same scale at the Nutritionist's office every monday.
But yea... I'll check on the wife's camera. Problem with that is I don't have a way to get pictures in the camera over to my computer... the card, yes. The camera, no. Might have to put them on the wife's computer then over to mine.
I'll see if I can't get something this weekend.
Michael,
I know JUST how you feel about not catching your friend! My husband has OFFICIALLY become my "carrot". You know how in horse races they hold a carrot in front to make them run faster, well my husband is my carrot. One of my major goals is to weigh less than my hubby for the first time ever since we have known each other. Well last month he weighed 170 (which would put me 5 pounds from reaching that goal) Well I had him weigh again last night and he was at 164!!!!!!! Darn him....So now I have to lose 11 pounds to be under his weight. I guess that will keep me working hard and eating right so I can reach that huge milestone. We will get there
It just might take a little longer

"Don't worry bout it !" I found that if I worry all the time then nothing happens....If I ignore it then in the end things work out. I am constantly on my scale morning , noon and night ! I know BAAADDDD Sandy !
But it is mainly because I can't believe what it says ! I gotta keep checking that the scale is teasing me ! I have a scale in my bathroom and one in my kitchen. They are both about the same so I am happy . Don't worry you will soon be neck and neck with your friend.
Sandy
