hey trace...just had my surgery 3 weeks ago today. i understand what you mean about feeling hungry. it is my understanding that after about 5 to 6 months that feeling is not as bad. dont get down about the amount of weight that your losing, remember you dont have a massive amount of weight loss until you are out a full year, so keep your head up.im still at the point where i cannot get anything more than soup, jello , applesauce, popsicles, and all that blah stuff in my pouch. i tried to eat mac and cheese last night cause i felt so hungry....never again, i was so sick, throwing up and pains in my stomach all night. just keep the faith, it took us a long time to put the weight on, this is sort of the same thing. peace and love, colen

Kim, Hi, I had my surgery on 9-19 and I had the same experience as you. Today I went in for a GI scope and was found to have a stricture which I hope has been corrected. Based on the pictures I saw It was surprising how small the opening became, I was told any opening under 9cm will create problems ie vomiting. You can try slowing down your eating/drinking but I'd call your surgeon ASAP to discuss it with him, you need to address it quickly. By the way the proceedure was painless. Feel bette, Art

Surgery date: Sept 7th Starting Weight: 242 Current weight: 205 Current Deit: softish food. some solid Protein per day: approx 50. Water: approx 1.5L Calories: between 400 and 600 Whats the hardest thing so far: taking too big of a bite and it taking forever to go down. also explaining to patient families (I'm a nurse) that the reason I haven't eaten any of their cookies & cakes B/C I can't eat sugar. Such a pain when I'm not telling them everything. How do you feel: Ok, not bad. It was exciting to be able to do turbo kickboxing & keep up with the rest of the class. The instructor noticed! What is your Favorite Meal: mashed potatoes! & smashed yams What have your family and friends thought so far: they're so excited

Hi. I had surgery sept 9th. Sometimes I like to graze. I was visiting the fast food places too frequently- the greasy meat slides down better. I have since cut that out. But meat (except raw fish) hurts. So what I have changed- No more fast food. I make my meals ahead of time. I have gone pretty much vegietarian. Lots of soy- soy chips (it has protein with my hummus) Since I like to graze- I graze with my meals. I have a set amount of a meal and I eat every so often. No water with meals! And occupy your time with something else when you feel like you have to eat. or drink water or crystal light or something. Good luck. It's trial & error. don't be discouraged

Meat (except fish) doesn't sit so well with me. I eat a lot of soy. Mashed potatoes are great. Shashemi(sp?) sushi without the rice- goes down really well. but you have to have a taste for it. It's definately a trial & error thing.
