Topic: sick of getting sick
Can someone please help me. I had gastric surgery and a hernia (sp) surgery Sept. 18th. I keep having trouble feeling like things are getting stuck so I have to go and get sick. It happens when I eat or drink even one sip. please help me understand I hate eating or drinking. Will this go away any time soon. They said something about possible swelling.

Laura, I'm 5 weeks post op - no fill yet. I hate to admit it but I eat popcorn, more than I should. I have had at least four entire microwave bagfuls since 3 weeks postop. My bad, I know. Gotta get out of this habit, but I love it. Patti

Topic: RE: 7 weeks out and nausea
I had my surgery sept 11, I get sick often , I dont like eating either, I dread it i am afraid ill get sick from it. so i make good choices too. I dont skip meals I am really careful about the texture of food. I got really sick last saturday i couldnt hold anything down that day and my husband called my surgeon and he said it was food caught and it would pass , it passed by the next morning. They way i look at it no one said this surgery would be easy. So take it day by day and with stride and be proud of the weight you have lost and the weight you will loose.

Had about 5 kernals and then started getting stuck. I think there's way too much fiber in popcorn to eat that so early out.

I haven't had a drink yet (7 wks out as well), and I am kind of afraid to do so. We have been out to eat a bunch. On The Border - dh ordered chicken fahitias with black beans. I had 2 small strips of chicken and some of his beans. Another time, we ordered guacamole live (they make it at the table) and I ate mostly guacamole and then some black beans. Olive Garden - I ordered the whole wheat spaghetti with meatballs and meat sauce. My kids (3 and 4.5) and I split it and took home leftovers. Panera - I have had black bean soup. Another time, I ordered a turkey sandwich on whole wheat, and just ate part of it (not much bread) and took home the rest. I have also had Wendy's chili, Southwest Chicken Salad from Chick Fil A and a McDonald's cheeseburger w/o the bun. HTH!

Topic: RE: What do you eat for Breakfast?
I have carnation instant breakfast (the sugar free chocolate) with one cup of skim milk, one splenda packet and one scoop of my protein powder (unjury vanilla) in the blender with 8 ice cubes. YUM! It has 32 grams of protein all together and fills me up until lunch. I've had that every day since I was about 2 weeks post op.

I actually don't eat breakfast... I am so thirsty in the morning that I just want to drink.

I am craving that too but I'm not allowed through my program to have it yet. Sorry I'm not a lot of help.
