Dang, I'm impressed, too, Jeni!  I've been told to expect to be in the hospital for two nights, but I'm hoping I do as well as you and can leave early too!!

What kind of surgery did you have?  I had gastric bypass on 8-28.  I'm feeling great 2 weeks out.  I was very sore in the beginning, but it gets better every day.  I've lost 11 lbs since surgery and a total of 37.

i am getting the lap band, but they are asking me for 5 years of weight histrory!! the only dr.'s i've been to in the last 5 years were ob's. will they accept that? i mean, your weight is more while you're pregnant so i didn't know if they would take that or not. any suggestion? will they deny my claim if i don't have 5 years of weight history?

Topic: Dumping vs Low Blood Sugar
Hi all,

I have recently had 3 episodes of what I think is low blood sugar. Each episode happened about 3 hours after eating something sweet. (Yes, I stupidly started eating bad things. I have since stopped).   I thought that dumping happened a lot quicker.  What do you guys think?

Thanks for any imput.

Topic: Medicaid and the DS x-post
So I finally found a PCP that would agree to deal with the 6month supervised diet for Medicaid because I want the DS badly and 6 months doesn't seem like any time compared to the years some people have been fighting to get their surgery. It was very difficult to find a surgeon in NC that even takes Medicaid and even harder to find one that does the DS but I found out Dr.  Voellinger in Charlotte does the DS AND takes Medicaid, woo! So I e-mailed to ask what the process was for getting an appointment with them via Medicaid to talk about the DS and got this e-mail in reply

Dear. Patient,

Currently NC Medicaid does NOT cover the DS. If you are interested in one of the two surgeries they do cover the RNYGB or the Lap-Band you may register for a seminar at the website you inquired through.

Um, wow. (No, I do NOT want a Lap-Band or the RNY, thanks.)

I was under the impression that Medicaid does cover the DS, I couldn't find anything on the NC Medicaid website that confirmed or contradicted the e-mail and everyone I talked to today from NC Medicaid seemed to have no clue what a DS was, let alone if they covered it. So long story short, does anyone know whether Medicaid does cover the DS? If they do, can I file with NC Medicaid? At this point Medicaid is my only insurance and self pay isn't an option right now without a MUCH better job.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Topic: I am new to the board.. and hope I am in the right place but I was wondering....
if anyone is or has had experience dealing with the Arizona state insurance (AHCCCS- Healthchoice) I have talked to AHCCCS and they say that I should be approved as long as my doctor submits all the required paperwork. I am just wondering how long it takes to be approved from the time he submits all the paperwork. I am also going to be driving from Bullhead City AZ to the Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix. Any ideas on if this Banner Medical is good clinic. My doctor will be Dr Fang or Dr Juarez. Any ideas on them???

Thanks
