Anything that you can see through is clear liquids. Chicken, Beef and Vegstable Broth, SF Jello, SF Popsicles, Isopure Protein Shakes, Crystal Light, and Diet Snapple. Oyah don't forget the Water. I have Surgery on Tuesday and I start my clear liquids on Monday. I am just really lucky that I don't have a full liquid or clear liquid diet for to long. If you read my blog you will see exactly what I am allowed to eat for my Three Day Pre-op.
Good luck.

i can have clear liquids. broth, tomato soup, sf jello, sf popcicles and then 2 protien drinks which give me 82 g of protien. they dont want me to go over 800 calories.i have actually been doing pretty good. i am trying to figure the reason for the liquid diet for 2 weeks? they said, to lose some weight, make your liver shrink (some dont believe this). what else? is is that big of a deal if i had a a hotdog because i had to leave town real quick and grabbed the easiest thing (i know when i get banded, i will have to be more selective) i also went to my favorite japanese restaurant out of town. i am 6 days from surgery and will make sure the rest of the time i stick with dr's orders, but the whole liquid diet thing has worried me. i dont want to sabatoge my surgery..i kind of liked not having to think about what food to eat. anyway..any ideas on the reason for the 2 wk liquid diet?

Welcome, Jenny!
My experience was that I was stringent on my post op diet, liquids, then mushies for several weeks, but it was hard. It wasn't until after my first fill (at least 2 months post op) that I started feeling any satiety eating those small amounts of food. I've heard from several long time banders that once you reach that "sweet spot" of restriction, you will definitely feel different.
Congrats! Welcome to the "loser's bench". Have you been monitoring or are you brand new to the blogs?

Hi out there. My surgery is Monday and I am on clear liquids for 2 days. I get it that I can have broth, but is there a certain kind of broth that is right? I got some Swanson's Veg. broth that has no protein or not fat or anything, but is like 900 sodium..sheesh that seems like alot. I got some sugar free jello, cranberry juice, and Popsicles. Does this seem right? Is there anything else out there that is considered clear liquid...People say if you can see through it, it is clear..well, my HMR protein drinks are not clear, but I was told those would be ok?? Help??

I also am on a 2 week high protein diet. I had to get mine from the dr. it is little packets that have 15 grams of protein each some are 1 pt. and some are 2 but I have to have a total of 10 pts. each day. I am on day number 9 at day 7 I had lost almost 10 lbs. had to go in for a product check they called it but I know it was to see if I was sticking to the program. MOst of the food is not to bad there are different flavors like pudding, jello, different kinds of soup and soy snacks. I have been to scared to even lick my fingers while I was cooking for the family. I do not want to do any thing that can cause my surgery to be postponed or canceled. Surgery is only 4 days away. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 a.m. surgery at 7:30 a.m. the hospital is 50 miles away so we will leave by 4:00 a.m. so as to allow plenty of time to get there. We are unfamiliar with the town.
Good luck to all.
I will pray that IKE fizzles out. I have a brother in Hawthorne Fl which is between Jacksonville and Gainesville.

Hang in there dear! I'm on day 12 and it does get easier. I was on the bariatrix advantage too and switched to Champion nutrition Pure Whey protein stack. It tastes much better, not gritty like the BA. It's much cheaper too, I got it at Vitalady.
I also made broth from scratch and life is MUCH better! I've had one little slip while I was making the broth I ate a few pieces of the chicken, felt so guilty I won't be doing that again!
I never thought I could have this much self discipline, but I do and YOU CAN DO THIS TOO! I've lost 16 pounds so far, that's so motivating!! Best of luck!

Thank you. You had to worry too.
How are you feeling 4 days later?

Hi Susan, just trying to hang in there. Tomorrow is my last day to enjoy any kind of solid food at all, then it's seven days of all-liquid. I think I'm going to go insane. I had to run some errands this morning and I could barely drive for being distracted by all the fast food joints and billboards advertising food.
Thanks for mentioning the sugar free lifesavers--I hadn't thought about that. I'm at a point where I never want to see SF jello or popsicles again. Broth helps, and thank God for that.
I've gone from freaking out about the surgery (and being afraid of it) to wanting it asap. I am so *over* having hunger impulses rule my life that it now outweighs my fear of the surgery. AAAGH!
(Thanks for letting me vent!)
