Well, I am so sorry to hear you are back in the hospital.  But, if it was going to be for anything I am glad that it is for dehydration and not something more serious.  Take care of yourself and please keep us posted!

I love grits!  I had surgery last week and I made them instead of cream of wheat
Which I do not like.  Make the smallest serving size and then add some spray butter & salt to them!  Yummy!  But, eat only 1 ounce at a time, they are heavy on the pouch.  I ate them a few days after surgery, so maybe that was why they hurt a little.  I also tried to eat 3 ounces!  Way too much at once.  But, they were so good!

Hi Tom.....
I hope you haven't fallen completely off the wagon.  You only have a couple of more days until the surgery.  I know its been a long road but if  you give up, all that hard hard work will have been for nothing.  The support will change once you have a different out look and you need to see yourself  a year from now and just imagine how much healthier you'll be!!  Going thru WLS is not easy...for me I think I will always struggle with wanting to finish everyone's leftovers and my idea of snacking is actually a meal for normal people....so now we have to learn new habits and leave are old life style behind on the operating table.  That's how I saw myself waking up from the surgery...the new healthy me is born!!

Hang in there!!  God Bless!!

Hey! I'm an RN and I work 12 hour shifts! I am going to take the full 6 weeks off in case of complications, etc.  This way, I won't be stressed out about getting back to work ASAP.

Topic: Home..
Had my day on 9/24..
I got home this evening..
No real pain..
Just sore.. bloated and gassy..
It's taking some used to, laying back in my own bed..
I almost want to buy a chaise lounge or something to lay in..
But I am totally blessed--
I woke up from surgery and needed pain meds immediately lol
but after that i was okay...
I  was sitting up and walking a few hours after that..
God is good.. I am thankful I was able to get through this without any complication
Now on to the loser's bench... make some room for me lol

Topic: LOST MY BOOK PLS HELP
about a year and a half ago I was approved for Weight loss surgery through Kasier, I went to the psyc exam and passed, saw the surgeon he told me to lost 33 lbs I said OK...but since then I lost my kaiser ins. and I had a baby.....CURRENTLY i've got my insurance back and I hit my target weight ONLY problem is I lost my bariatric book and I can't remember the number I need to call to speak with them, all I remember is that I used to call on a weekly basis and leave my weight and calorie count for the week on a answering machine.....does anyone know what I'm talking about or know the number. this is for San jose Kaiser, I've called the operator there and she was NO HELP...I've emailed my PCP and of course NO response....I'm eager to get this surgery going but can't do it without help.....Thanks for reading

There are a few foods I have never eaten:  prunes, liver, and grits!  Can't help you out with the grits.

As far as the protein shakes, I understand that sometimes food /drink "agrees" with you and sometimes they don't.  You will probably need to get over your fear of trying them again.  I think they are a necessary part of our diet, at least in the beginning of this journey.  Good Luck!

If I lived on the moon, I would only weigh 24.4 pounds.
