Topic: RE: trouble getting in liquids
I am five days out, and I am having the same problem. I use to drink water like crazy, but it makes me really nausous now. I count everything I swallow as being my liquids since I am on liquid diet. While i wish I was doing better with it, but I know I am not dehyrdated, and it will get easier...

hello
I have had the vertical sleeve done 9/5/08. My insurance co would not pay either.

GOOD BOOK - WLS FOR DUMMIES!  IT EVEN GIVES YOU A SAMPLE LETTER
FOR APPEAL WITH YOU INSURANCE CO.  THE BOOK HAS A LOT OF INFORMATION.

The clinic where I go the BAND and the VERTICAL SLEEVE are priced to
be the same as each other.  starts @13,600 up to 18,650 this covered you
for a yr with the surgeon and 18 months with the hospital.  This price did not include my pre-op work up.  I ended up in the higher category due to the number of surgeries I already had and my health issues.  I went BACK
in the hospital due to dehydration -caused by my health issues I had
before surgery.  And this 2nd stay was totally covered by what I had already paid.
I researched for 6yrs and saved along the way.
I wasn't sure any doc would deal with me because
of my health issues -  But I found a good one and
                        his clinic personal are wonderful.

STAY POSITIVE AND STAY FOCUS.  (ALTO OF CLINICS WILL HELP YOU
WITH FINANCES - HELPING YOU GET A LOAN, SO DON'T FORGET TO
ASK THEM ABOUT IT.)
BEST OF LUCK AND HOPE EVERY THING GOES GREAT FOR YOU.

Topic: RE: I need information!
hello
I was sleeved on 9/5/08
I have had some set backs, I got dehydrated and end up back in the hospital.  (vomiting & diarrhea)
I have always had a problem with diarrhea(chrons)
I lived on sugar free Popsicles!!! So glad I already had them
in the freezer.  I have seen others with no problems at all.
My problems stemmed from the health issues I already had
before surgery. I can say since the surgery - really don't
want anything, no hunger!!!  I for some reason have problems with liquids - I tend to get too much air in when I try to eat.  So I have to wait for the air to come back out, before I continue trying to eat.
Sugar Free Popsicles
Wonton Soup - No wonton or meat
Sugar Free pudding
low cal yogurt
Ice chips to get my water
Crystal light - even in ice chip
sugar free jello - if u buy it already fixed pick it up in ref area it is softer
Italian ice - sugar free

I think everyone is different, some of our health issues
before surgery, some times slows us down during
recovery.
I am being honest -
I would do it all over again!!!
I knew due to my health issues it would not be a walk in the Park!
I also know I will get pass this hump in the road and move forward.   I have had to use the scopolamine patch since the surgery they have helped so much with the nausea.

I am 5ft tall and wt 215, when I started @ my one week f/u I had lost down to 191, I go back for a f/u this Monday.  So I'll
see how much more I have lost.(my clothes are too big)

My family and close friends say they can tell I have lost a good
bit in a small amount of time.

stay focus on the wt lost - it will get you through.
your date is coming up soon - hang in there.
you will be glad you did it when you see the lbs
dropping off.

This site is wonder every one shares it is great.

Above all listen to your doctor's advice and follow the directions that are given to you.  All clinics are little
different - but you main source of help or advice should
come from them. The clinic I go to, even called daily
since I've been out of the hospital to help me through
this hump I'm in - they are great.

(MY HUSBAND WORKS WITH A GUY - THAT HAD IT DONE
ON A Wednesday AND BACK @ WORK MONDAY) HE IS DOING GREAT AND LOSING WT WITHOUT ANY DIFFICULTY.

WISH YOU AN EASY SURGERY AND A EASY FAST RECOVERY!!!
HANG IN THERE.

I LOVE your answer.  It is so true.  I am scheduled for lap band on Wednesday the 24th, and know that this is a TOOL for my genetic mishap, and that all of this weight did not come on overnight, so it will take some time to get rid of, as well.  I, personally, am afraid of the RNY procedure becasue I'm a near-hemopheliac (bleeding disorder).  I know it is right for others.  It is the receommended remedy if you have hundreds to lose, but I'm just gonna try the band. I hope you do well.

EVERYONE should remember that ALL of these procedures are TOOLS for the aid in safe weight loss.  If you are hoping for a miracle, just stick to the plan your MD gives you, and I'm sure it will come to you.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Maria

Topic: RE: Sept. 24thers
Hey!  Just wanted to pop in and say that as of Friday, I, too, am a Sept. 24ther!     YAY!  We should all stick together and share what goes on with one another, then meet on our anniversary for HUGS!!! I'm looking forward to my surgery, but do have hesitations...  I guess it's just the general fear of the whole change of lifestyle for me...

Don't worry about your iron being low on your lab work.  This can change daily w/ lab work.  Just be sure to get those vitamins in and be sure to use one w/ some extra iron if you tend to have this frequently.  I use the Target brand of pre-natal vitamins because they are the only ones that do not make my stomach hurt, AND they have WONDERFUL amounts of all of the good stuff we need in our female bodies (sorry, guys! ha!)...  Also remember that if you take an iron supplement alone that it CAN/MAY cause constipation (which I'm sure you are not having to worry about on this lovely liquid diet), and if you experience this, you can take an over the counter stool softener called COLASE.  My advice is solid, I promise, however, be sure to speak with your doc to see what they recommend for you; that's always the best.

Anyway, hang in there, and I look forward to hearing back from you ALL!!!

Hey, cool!    Me, too!  I am having lap band on the 24th just like you, and am feeling this way, too.  I believe it's just the whole changing of the lifestyle thing.  I mean, the liquid diet has taught me that I'll have to use MEGA restraint to do this successfully, but all in all, I think everything will be all right.  Please keep in touch with me and let me know how things go for you.  I'd love to know!  Hey!  We'll share an anniversary! ha!

Reading the post-op expectations has helped me, and I just have to think positive that the surgeon has done this a million times, and knows very well what he is doing, and just have faith that my care will be awesome enough to pull me through this without complication.  I have a bleeding disorder similar to hemophelia, and it frightens me, but, hey, I've had two wonderful children (17 years apart... don't ask...), and I should be all right.  TRY to think positive!

Look forward to hearing back from you!

Ellen....

We share the same surgery date and frustration of this fabulous liquid diet.  I started last Monday and it has really been a struggle.  You definately have to play mind over matter with yourself and keep your eye on the prize.  We can do this!  We have to do this for ourselves!
Wishing you the best surgery and recovery.  Be blessed.
