Topic: I'm finally home..again.

Hi everyone. I just thought you might like to know what's doing. I had a very successfull RNY Tuesday the 9th though I stayed at the hospital a couple extra days due to trouble with nausea, etc. Dr. Garren at UW Wisconsin really rocks! He let me stay until I was able to do what needed done. The pain was manageable, Meriter's nurses all wonerful. I happily wobbled my way home Friday night and relaxed,(sipping and walkies of course-LOL) on my mountain of pillows. Saturday the pain became much worse. I was pale and felt really yucky. Temp was 99F, no big. Saturday night, I didn't sleep, the pain was getting much worse and temp was 100. I thought it wasn't a real problem cause I was staying hydrated and all. That afternoon, temp was up to 101.5 and stayed put till night. Pain was incredible. I got so dizzy I thought I'd pass out every time I stood. By nine pm I had to prep for exploratory Laprascopic . In at 10:30pm out at 11:30. My second recovery was harder. Ihad some old blood in my colon that was making me so sick- whodathunk it. We prepare for everything else. Oh well. Dr. Garren rocks a second encore performance, and I am finally home again. Sorry. I don't mean to drone on but typing is about the onlt thing that doesn't hurt. Just thought I'd keep you all up. God bless you all.

Asia, that is great. Congrats.  I need to start walking.  I am doing more and more each day around the house and have gone out a few times.

what protein drink are you having with 40g?  are you adding it to milk.

I saw you post the other day about the cream of mushroom soup.  I have an email out to my nut to see if I can have that too.  Today was my first day with milk.  woohoo.

Yvonne,
sorry to hear you are in pain.  why the heck didn't they give you liquid pain medicine?  Take it one day at a time.  It is getting a little better for me each day.

Hang in there,

Abby

Topic: RE: Hard Time with Restricted Diet
I totally feel for you. I only had to do one week of full liquids, but it about killed me.  The 3rd day in I just about gave up, food wise and emotionally --  thinking if it was this bad already, what was it going to be like AFTER surgery??  If it wasn't for my husband there to give me a pep talk, I would have blown it.  But don't!!  It is so worth it.  It will keep you healthy and safe during surgery.  I had a weakness on the 4th day and had a small bite of chicken and luckily everything was fine, but I felt so guilty after doing it.  The surgeon even remarked after surgery that I did such a good job sticking to the diet and how much it helped.

You've come this far and it's only days away!  You don't want to ruin it or take a chance of an open surgery.  YOU CAN DO IT!!
Teri
