I am so thankful that I have the team working with me that I do. My surgery is also set for Sept 29th. I have been working with an amazing team of professionals since March. I have a dietician/nutritionist as well as a fitness coordinator. My surgeon is awesome and the nurse that works with him has been amazing. They are very thorough and have left no stone unturned. I started my 2 week restricted diet yesterday. I first learned about this back in May and then had a follow-up class last week. I have seen so many people like you Renee who still have questions here at the jumping off point. It makes me nervous for you that you don't have all the answers you need and you go in for a life-changing surgery in 13 days. I will be happy to share any info. I have with you. Right now I do 3 protein shakes a day and take a chewable multi-vitamin. I can also do clear and full liquids but am limited to 1300 calories a day. It is difficult to get in the 90-120 grams of protein w/o going over the <100 grams of carbs that I am also limited to without eating meat. I read that you are a mother and just like every pregnancy is different- so is this. I just read that one woman lost 61 lbs in her first 3 weeks- then an hour later I read that some folks have only lost 10. I wish you all the luck and happiness in the world!

Hey Renee my surgery was originally scheduled for 9/29 also then they called me and moved it up to 9/18 .yes that is 2 DAYS away I am feeling the very same way you are but you will be great just like I am .Did all my preop work .no big deal nothing invasive I do surgical scheduling as my job so be sure to make sure to stop any aspirin , ibuprofen, excedrin, vitamin e and advil/aleve products now   so you won't have bleeding issues.....also my nutrionist told us we could have mashed potatoes, soups, jello, yogurt before surgery but just make sure to stay away from salads , beans, anything in high fiber as you said before to make sure your liver shrinks before surgery it just makes it easier from them and you.................If you need a hand to hold I am here for you...........I need a hand to hold too:) Hope that helps a little bit ....................

Topic: I need information!
Hi,
I'm new to blogs and chatrooms.  I would like to make some friends to find out what to expect with the VSG and support.   I am scheduled for 9-29-08.   I'm getting anxious.

Any info I can get on what to expect and what to eat after my surgery would be greatly appreciated.  I have about 120 lbs to lose.  I'm looking forward to getting rid of all this excess weight.  I feel like I am at the end of my rope.  My quality of life is bad.

Please reply.

Thanks a bunch!

I am excited.  Tomorrow is my day as well.  We have to leave @ 3 am to get there.  Where in Ky are you having surgery?  I'm being banded in Louisville tomorrow.

I have anthem and WLS was excluded.   I could not overcome the exclusion, but my anthem is through Kentucky where there is an automatic exclusion for companies with fewer than 100 employees on the plan.  Exclusions can rarely be overcome, but talk to the insurance company and even your employer and see if you can pay the extra premium to have it included.  Good luck.  I ended up just doing it as a self pay.

Topic: florida girl needs help
Some of you may remember me, I've been trying to get gastric bypass surger since 2000. I've both watched and help this website and education regarding obesity grown since then. I'm still strugling to get the surgery and am loosing my battle with obesity now more than ever. I need help. My insurance will only pay 50% of my surgery to a max of $25,000.00 including all preoperative and perioperative costs. Now I'm turning to all of you for help. I live in the panhandle of florida, only 20 miles from dothan, alabama and 50 miles from panama city. I need a surgeon, and ideas on how to pay for the remaining costs of my surgery. I cant let the go on any longer, my life is slipping away. I need help.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm all nerves lately.  I know i'm making the right decision, but I'm still worried.  I saw my Dr three times...first apmt, second appointment, and then for the EGD.  Won't see him again until surgery.  I'm going to call and get more info on the liquids/vitamins/etc.  Good luck to you too!
