I'm so sorry your surgery was cancelled. I can only imagine how you feel. The pictures on the news look terrible for your area. I'm glad you're safe and will pray things get back to normal as soon as possible for all those affected.

Topic: RE: Surgery scheduled for Sept 29, 2008. Nervous, but excited
Hi Renee,
I'm having surgery on the 29th of Sept. also. I just returned from my final clearance appointment and tomorrow I have my last visit with my surgeon.
Up until 2 days ago, I was excited. Now I'm stressed. I don't know why. I feel like I could bite somebody's head off
!!! and I'm not usually like that.
Do you get to see your doctor before surgery? If not, why don't you call his/her office and see if you can speak with one of the nurses. I'll find out tomorrow how long I have to be on liquids before my surgery. Good Luck.

Topic: newbie here...have questions
Hi. I am just begining to research weight loss surgery and was hoping some of you could help me; i have a few questions and don't really know where to begin.
I am considering/researching lap band surgery.
I was wondering how much it cost and was wondering if you you minded sharing your cost with me??? I think I will be paying out of pocket and was trying to get an idea of how much I may need.
I do have insurance with Anthem BCBS, however, i know that weight loss surgery is excluded on my policy. I was wondering if anyone else had and insurance policy which weight loss surgery was specifically excluded but eventually got approved for it?
I REALLY appreciate anyones feedback. Thanks so much!!!

Hi Renee~
My surgery is a week from today, and like you I am a bit nervous of the unknown, but very excited about what this will do for me.
I had my pre-op class yesterday and they gave a lot of info. (All doctors are different, so you should check with yours for sure).
After surgery they want us to take a chewable complete vitamin and a chewable/liquid calcium citrate with D. After a month, then the surgeon will add other vitamins that we may need.
I am on some medications that have to be switched to liquids (metformin for diabetes) and the like, so if you are on a lot of meds, you'll want to check on that as well.
Hope this helps, Good Luck to you and keep us posted!

thanks! I go to the doctor this morning, so I can address these issues. Maybe I just anm having trouble keeping my sips small enough. anybody use a toddler sippy cup? and does it work? I'm tempted to get a babyfood dish that will keep my food hot. I sure am tired of liquids! 3 more days! any hints for the transition to soft foods?

Hey Yvonne! How are you feeling? Congrats on being 7 days out!
Yeah, I'm a single Mom so I'm terrified that something will happen. That's my major concern, I guess.
Thank you for the kind words and advice. :-)
