Topic: RE: OCTOBER ROLL CALL
My surgery was October 27. I started at 247 pounds and I'm at 191 - down 56 pounds. People are really commenting on my weight loss now, and I love it! I just in the past couple of days have rediscovered my collar bones, and in the past couple of weeks I've found my rib cage. No individual ribs yet. ;)
I still drink a lot of protein drinks. In the evening, after work, I'll eat solid protein such as tuna, chicken salad, fish, bean soup, etc. Sometimes at lunch I'll have time for some solid food, too, or a protein bar.
Got to keep reminding myself to get in that liquid - which is one big reason I drink so many protein drinks - kills two birds with one stone.

Christine! Thanks for your post. EVeryones information made me feel much better! I had WLS on 10/18 and started at 282 and now I'm 228. I'm down 54 and I really havn't moved much more then 3 lbs in the last month. I was starting to think this surgery wouldn't work for me. Anyways. I'm glad we aren't alone!!

Topic: OCTOBER ROLL CALL
it is time for us to "toot our own horns"! In addition to posting our weight loss, let's add what we are eating. Everyone has different food plans, I think it would be fun to see what everyone is eating. It's not mandatory, just if you feel like it. Also, if you have an issues or success hints, let's pass them along.
Surgery: Oct 11th
Weight before surgery: 334
Weight now: 253
LOSS: 81#'s
I am still not very adventurous in my eating. I still eat fish 2 times a day. Protein first! Plus for breakfast I have a canned protein shake that has 35 g of protein. I also try to have fresh vegetables and fruit each day. I have been adding more fruit to my daily intake. It seems to have helped my weight loss start again plus kept me pretty regular, if ya know whatI mean. I am also enjoying salad now. I only eat a very small amount but I enjoy every bite.
I don't always get all my water in but I am usually close to 64 oz.
So, how are you doing?

I just came across your post from the other day and it made me feel so much better. I have been so frustrated!!! My surgery was 10/6/04, was 260 the morning of surgery and I am 218 today (42 pounds in 4 months). I thought by now I would at least be under 200. Reading everyone else's posts made me realize I am not the only one. I see my surgeon on Thursday for my 4 month check up so I will talk to him. I read somewhere that my Hormone Replacement Therapy patch (I had a complete hysterectomy 5 years ago) might slow me down. Thanks to everyone for sharing!!

Topic: RE: what did we eat over the weekend that we shouldn't have?
I'm a closet Chex freak myself!!! I liked them before surgery, but now I love them!!
I don't eat them with milk, it still bothers me post surgery, but I love to eat them plain, with my ice tea(u/s) in the morning! My fave is corn too!
I tell ya, I have been fruit crazy and eat it during the day, along with veggies(all raw). I don't really eat but one meal around 11;30 or so ...usually a smart,w.w., or healthy choice frozen meal(some type of carb counting meal entree).
Sooo... to get my protein in... I use a soy(no milk) powder protein drink+ 1/2 scoop unflavored GNC protein powder and mix w/6oz. water.. I get 30 gm. protein! I hate the taste(the ole kids trick...plug the nose and shug!).
I get my protein 2 x a day and can eat all the veggies I want. I crave them!! My newest is brussel sprouts! Weird how everything has such great flavor now!! I think, that I ate so fast before shoveling food in... I never stopped to really taste it!!

I'm sooo glad your OK! Boy, we as women need to listen to our bodies more! I'm glad you finally let your worry get the better of ya!! Are there any residual effects from the appendix being infected?? How are you feeling today? How is your appetite now after the 2nd surgery? Be good to your self and take good care!!

My new thing to eat that probably is okay, is 2 chicken legs from BW3's, Teriyaki Style. I couldn't believe I ate both of them, (plus I drank 3 glasses of unsweetened Iced Tea). Boy, are they good! I didn't know we were allowed to eat popcorn ever again. I've had a hankering (that's KY for craving) for that
. Maybe I will try it next time I do. I like cereal too. The Smart Start with Soy protein is really good, and you get the protein, which is so important. Not to mention the badly needed (sometimes) fiber.
