Topic: RE: Any luck with bread?
I'm 15 wks out and bread is my biggest NO NO! I miss sandwiches too but every time I try it comes right back. I pinched off a little bite of a french bread roll once, and a couple tiny bites of a piece of garlic toast one time - but other than that I just can't handle it. Maybe in time. I have noticed that several things on the "NO NO" list have recently become "maybe" items - I can tell that my pouch is getting a little stronger. But that makes me nervous. I use to be a big bread eater...so maybe it's a good thing I'm not able to do it now.

Hey, Kathy!
I'm in Reston, VA -- not far from you. My surgery was one day before you. I visit the boards occasionally (not daily), but I read them alot. I keep myself way too busy ... gotta slow down sometime!
(Don't you love this weather tonight?)
Hope this finds you healthy and doing well!

I'm dying for a piece of toast. Found out this past week I could eat small pieces of bread - very slowly and without any fluids. Am not pushing it, though - so I put the loaf of bread I had in the cart back on the shelf this past week.

I've had luck with grainy, nutty, low carb breads. Any other type of bread has been a no-go for me

Topic: RE: Exercising
I go to a little place called Trim & Tone. They have passive exercise beds. Basically the beds are electronic and do most of the 'movement' for you. Its a no-sweat, 1 hour workout. There are 6 beds, and each bed is 10 minutes. I pay $6 per visit, and go twice a week.
I believe it has made a big difference for me, and I started going there at 5 weeks out .....
I do know alot of folks go to Curves -- but they were too expensive for me. I dont want to pay for a contract, because 9 times out of 10, I pay, and then never go.
So ... I do what works for me.

Hey Lori... I dont know what to tell ya... I am able to tolerate bread. I found myself eating way too much of it though. I have cut it out. I do eat a little every now and then.
I know you miss eating a sandwich. Try wrapping whatever you want into a big peice of lettuce. Like wrap your tuna in lettuce or bologna in lettuce. Might help you with your craving for a sandwich.

Wow, they are telling you to only eat 3 xs a day? Every Dr is so different on the nutirtion aspect. My question is, knowing how litttle I can eat at one time, How can you possibly be getting enough protien in 3 tiny meals a day? It takes me all day to get my protien in. I eat a small amout of food (I dont classify between snacks an meals anymore) about every 3-4 hours. I am very aware of how much protien I get at every sitting. Every food intake has some amount of protien. I dont bother w/ starches anymore at all unless its coupled w/ protien. Ex a veggie or a light breading on meat. I continue to reasearch by speaking to different people in the nutrition field and take the "best practices" that work for me. At this stage in our journey we should be able to branch out to other options that may work better for us. Good luck to you.

Hi there .. I am 4 mos. out, and still cannot eat bread.
I know there are some that can -- but I get sick too, unless I eat just a very very small piece of toasted bread.
Maybe in due time, we will be able to. I sure hope so, because I miss just having a grilled cheese sandwich! ...or bologna!!

Topic: Any luck with bread?
I am 3 mos. post op and have had no luck with bread. Wheat, heavy, white, buns, anything! I know this should be a blessing, but I was hoping bread in moderation would be an option for me this far out. I have tried toasting, broiling, plain, dry, every way imaginable. ALWAYS get sick. Anybody else not tolerate any bread yet? Maybe I just will never get to have a sandwich or toast ever again
thanks, lori
