Topic: Bento Boxes!
So, do you read the 'World According to Eggface' blog?  (http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/)

Shelly has posted some  really neat photos for ideas of how she packs her new cool Bento box lunch box.  I actually have two small Japanese Bento boxes in Hello Kitty and never really did much with them beyond packing a single serving of something in them for lunch.  But for fun I kicked around the internet looking at some neat Bento websites and blogs and it really got me excited.  A whole new food obsession!  LOL

The whole concept is simple: preparing your lunch in a single small container that often has sub-compartments in it and adhering to portion control.  The Japanese even have a very clever chart for how much you should be eating by volume.  NOT dieting but just eating right.  How easy and blame-free is that?  And some of the photos on the web of the all-out artistic efforts produced by people are amazing.  Or you can just do simple old leftovers in nice, balanced, small amounts.

This seems tailor-made for us post-ops who are trying to control our portions.  I've started gathering my Bento supplies as well as ordering a few sets like Shelly uses and will begin working at mastering my Bento skills.

I'm definitely worth the effort.  I figure to start out, I'll pack a week's worth on Sunday night and see how it goes.  The goal will be to increase the variety of foods I eat, keep the portions small and make my lunches at work feel like pampering.

I bet most of us are already doing something along these lines anyway...haven't we always?  This is defining the process more and making it feel very special, I think.  Maybe it is just what I need to get me excited abou****ching my food intake more closely.  I'll let you know how it goes.   Maybe even with a few Bento photos of my own.

...ps...I can't believe your insurance wouldn't approve a breast reduction.  Good grief...that is for sure NOT cosmetic.  Two days after mine I woke up to the sudden realization that my back pain was gone and I'd been so accustomed to it that I'd forgotten what it felt like not to have it.  Can you try again?  Maybe get your 'paper trail' reinforced by more doctor visits complaining of back and neck pain to get them documented???

Hi Melissa,
So sorry for the stinking gain...I think we can all relate to that around here!  I didn't post on Wednesday because I was hoping and praying the numbers that day weren't right.  Why, oh why, EVERY MONTH (during TOM) do I gain weight?  I try to keep the munchies somewhat under control without too much luck but then by about two or three days after it is all over, the gain is gone.  I'm glad it goes, don't get me wrong, but it sure makes me mad while I've got it!

So, Weds. I weighed 147 and this morning I weighed 144.  Good lord....

Just proves to me yet again that I'll never be one of 'those people' who stay one weight all the time.  There are people like that out there somewhere, right???

My insurance has an exclusion for any kind of weight loss surgery.

When I called them to ask about the BR they told me they didn't pay for that either that the only way they would is if I had to have a mascetomy.  I ask them even if I am having medical problems, they said they still wouldn't.  I haven't checked in on a lawyer or anything like that I really don't want to go that route.

Talk to ya soon

Thanks Melissa!

I had no idea you were self pay for your RNY! Ouch, why is that? Did insurance have an exclusion in their policy you could not overturn?  Wow.. bless your heart.  And sorry to hear about the BR not being covered also, this makes me feel pretty darn lucky even though I fought hard for both.  I am so sorry.  Can you appeal? Get a lawyer involved?  Or is it not a chance at all they will say yes.. my goodness.

Good to hear from you hang in there sweetie.
Hugs, Melissa

Hello Mini Me!!!!

Well, for me it was heart shaped reesses cups...WOW!!!! did I eat them and the worst part is that no matter how many I eat, no dumping.

On Monday I weighted in @ 182.5 LBS, way over my limit of 180 so I am on a "diet" as of right now....oh well, not  a diet but being extra careful with what I choose to eat and drink.  Hopefully, one of these days I am going to stop making excuses and start walking again.

Have a great day!!!
