Aww, sorry to hear you have to have your gallbladder removed Melissa. Hugs! Mine came out in '99 with the installation of my first wls so I can't answer as for what it is like having it done after. But I have to say I have never missed the nasty old thing...mine had crystals in it already back then.
My vote would be to go with your rny surgeon, too.

My surgeon took my gallbladder out about 3 months after my RNY. It was done lap and she even used the same incisions for less scarring. I had hardly any pain and went back to work in 2 days. I would go with your surgeon, but that is just my opinion.

Topic: X-POST: Help questions on Gall Bladder removal after RNY
I just found out this week that I do have gall stones so my OBGYN has set me up for another test on my gall badder to see how it is functioning then he will go from there to see if I have to have it removed. My questions is if I have it removed, can they still do it laproscopy or will I have to have an open surgery? I had my RNY laproscopy and am hoping for the same thing for this other surgery (if I do have to have it). Also should I let my OBGYN do the surgery or should I have my Bariatric Doctor do it? I sure don't want anything to mess up my RNY so I didn't know if this could or not.
