My bro (11 years older than me) and sister in law (ony 6 years older) named their kids David, Eva, and Maya. They wanted names that would work and sound good and have meaning in America (where the kids had been born/are citizen of, etc), Russian (our cultural roots, we are immigrants and my brother works in Ukraine) and Hebrew (that is jewish, which is our religion although we are not very observant but for the major holidays) cultures.

When I grow up and have my two kids (did i mention i'm 33 so i use "growing up" with a wink and a smile"), i'd love to honor the memory of my grandma and grandpa. funny enough, both of my grandmas had the same name (Valentina). My maternal grandpa's name was Roman. (again, those were popular names in russia)

Obviously, can't name the kids exactly that but the personal list in my head for girls now includes Valerie (Val) and/or Tina. If anyone can come up w/ an american and nice sounding variation of Roman, that would be awesome:)

Well... I do love the idea of YOUR family name being part of your baby's name... boy or girl!!!

Seems DH is going conservative with the names compared to the poo-poo'd list; all keepers!

How about "test driving" the different names on the cats?  Sure they probably won't come when you call them, but did they really respond before anyway?  I'd try-out each name and the nick-names that go with them and then omit where needed!

Our new grandson's name is Tyler.  When I first heard people call him Ty Ty, I said... Hmmm....
Now I think it's cute, but I only say "Ty Ty" to bust my DH, who is such a mush-pot of a grandpa!
Our first grandson, Jayden, will probably be called Jay when he is older.. or so I've heard!  Both are from DH's #1 son.
DH #2 son is getting married in this year and his soon-to-be Mrs. has a 5-yr-old named Kenzi... She's precious.  DH can't wait for her to call him Grandpa..  He is also putting pressure on the couple to have a baby already!!!!   Good thing that they are grounded!!!  Love 'em all!!!

Girls names are shortlisted:

Caitlin Marie
Jessalyn Ann
Amberlyn Marie

Boys names.. still fighting over.. been turned down over 60 times in 6 years.  If it wasn't up to him to decide if it was a boy or girl, I'd have a boy just to spite him!

CONGRADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and as far as your husband goes. i'm sure as soon as he sees the little one (boy ot girl), the gender will no longer matter a bit.

for what it is worth, my bf wants us to have 2 girls (hey, i'm all for it...esp. if they are twins:) but i told him if they turn out 2 be boys he better love them just as much.
love, nat

You just don't understand what my husband would do with a little girl.  About the time she turned 8 or 9, I'd find him on the Internet trying to find a remote nunnery, reachable only by oar boat, that has nothing but nuns on it.  And then he'd try to convince me, even though we're not Catholic or any religion that has nuns, that she should go live on the island until such time as he dies, or goes senile and wouldn't notice males staring at her.

A boy would be so much easier to negotiate with him.
