I had RNY knowing that it would NOT solve all my problems but being thin sure helps make all the problems easier to carry and handle.
LOVE my RNY!!!!

Glad the bento boxes are working out well for you! I have still yet to look for those, I plan to! Be nice for summer!
I hear ya with the PMS, i want chocolate so bad around my period you would think I was some weirdo addict needing her "fix" lol. I love chocolate vitamuffins or vitatops and SF fudgesickles when this happens. They really do seem to do the trick.
Get some rest girlie! Love ya!

Topic: RE: Remind me again - Where do we absorb calories?
Hi Chance,
I don't know that I an answer this question to a "T" but i can tell you what I know.
First of all, it is good to know how much you had bypassed. All of us, even proximals, are missing our duodenum (the first section of the colon). This is the part of the colon that absorbs some of the calories and nutrients but tends to love calcium, iron, and thiamine, vitamin D etc.. thus the reason why we get low if we don't supplement. Over time the reamining colon will grow "villa" which are "finger-like" pertrustions in your colon and these little rascals will start grabbing on to more of the calories. Our colons are smart and in time and will compensate. However, vitamins never do get absorbed fully and thus the reason we must supplement for life. I am 150cm bypassed (medial) and so I have part of my jugenum missing also. A distal (200cm or more) will have even more of their jugenum missing. So it is just nice to know what you are dealing with as more bypassed is less absorbtion of nutrients (not calories though later from what i understand).
Does this help at all? This is the extent of my knowledge lol.
Edited to add, we absorb every carbohydrate we consume. We do however (esp the first 2 years) malabsorb protein and some fat.

Topic: RE: Oh Ladies!!

Hiya! About all I've managed to get done this week is keep up with my bento blogging and make a mad dash around the internet. Tomorrow after work I'll post my weight. Not great but not bad this week. PMS'ing and wanting to eat everything not nailed down. Good having lots of fruits and veg cut up in the house for making bentos!
I see lots of new posts...yeah! Looking forward to reading and responding tomorrow. Night...it's so late for me! (rose society mtg. tonight)

thanks, Melissa, are the one who rocks!!!! you exercise regularly and i've, unfortunately, competely stopped. i KNOW i need to get started again (a year or so ago i walked up to 9 miles a day maybe 5 on average plus did go to the gym for cardio/weight a few times a week). i don't even necessarily need or have the time to to get to that level again but i do need to get of my (formely) fat butt and get back into some regular routine.

guess what, being thin does not automatically solve all your life problems.... took me a while to realize. anyone else noticed that?
disclaimer: i'd have rny again 1000 times over in a second....for me, it did solve the some of the problems (like being overweight and having a very poor body image/related self esteem issues).

Aw you are too sweet :) Thanks!
What insurance do you have? Have you looked up the policy? Mine wanted 3 months of documentation for rashes and said they wouldn't cover muscle tightening or TT unless there was a hernia, which I didn't have and only panni would be apporved with teh right documentation.
