I'm one week today and am down 20, but that's probably mostly water.

This is very helpful - especially to know about the usual plateau - thank you Genesis! I'm down 1 lb today so perhaps this has broke. I did eat a bit more than usual yesterday - around 800 calories - maybe that helped.....

My surgery was the 17th as well. I lost 22 pounds the first week, and nothing to speak of since then. It is very common to have a stall during weeks 2 and/or 3. The stalls average about 7-10 days but of course can vary with each individual. This is just our body's way of trying to catch up and figure out what we are doing. The most important thing at this stage is to stick to our eating plan so that our bodies come out of starvation mode and realize that this is the new normal for us.

I am on of the few people that didn't gain weight following surgery, at least not that I know of...lol...If I did, it was gone by the time I got home from the hospital the next day. I know what you mean about the "trots". I got them about 3 days after I got home, and they stayed with me until I was able to tolerate more substantial foods. I think it just follows the idea of "Liquids In = Liquids Out". Thank goodness for the puree stage! Do you dilute your fruit juice to 50/50 with water? I haven't had any juice yet, I've been trying to avoid the liquid calories as much as possible. But, I know my doc said I could have juice, but only if I dilute it to at least 50%

Your weight gain is probably jus****er retention from all of the fluids. Once your body gets used to being this hydrated, the excess fluid comes out, and the pounds come off. Best of Luck, Keep us posted on your progress.

Congrats....13 pounds is GREAT!!! It definitely takes time to get to the point where you can tolerate all of the liquids. But having more variety definitely helps. I know what you mean about the hiccups, I seem to get them all the time since surgery.

I am 8 days post op from lap rny and I am having the raging hormones and bad gas. I gained 5 pounds during surgery because of all the water and air they pump in you. Ive had the trots really bad but my surgeon said it was a good thing as long as kept hydrated. I guess it means my pipes are working. There was only one juice I could not tolerate so far. I am really lucky because the pain for me was minimal. At home I used liquid tylenol and for the last 3 day nothing. I guess thats about it for now. Sunday I get to go on puree foods Yay! Best of luck...you'll do fine! I know what you mean about rushed.... I thought my surgery was going to be in 08. Got a call on a Fri afternoon, pre op was Tues Dec 18, Surgery Wed, Dec 19 at 3pm. Had to be at the hospital at 1pm. At 5:30pm, they called, had to be there Wed at 5:30am.... I freaked out. But... once at the hospital... I was so stressed... I cracked up the entire time there even in the room before they wheel you in for surgery ;) It came and went so fast.... a few days later... I was in the car with a friend and we were like... all that stress and the surgery is over (almost like we had dreamed it) as well as Christmas. Congrats--- go get em girl

Topic: RE: Help ! New pain after 3 weeks???
Oh no! Is it possibly a gas pain? This far out, I can't imagine what it would be.... you may want to call your surgeon to check. It may just be that it's not healed good enough yet...did you maybe bend down or sit more than usual or wear something tighter in that area? Good luck!
