Topic: RE: 4 Days Post-Op
Congratualations on your surgery. I had mine the same day and got out Fri evening. Yes, the dry throat wasn't a wonderful thing. They did however let me use those wet sponge things on a stick (in mouthwash so that helped a lot).
My worst part was my back was killing me and I brought home the gas build up after surgery. Each time it appeared, I just walked around and that would ease that.
I don't believe I would have taken many pain pills either (not that I've taken too too many), but it was mainly for my back I believe from being laid straight back.
Wow... I can't even get down barely a whole 20 oz bottle of water a day so good going on that! That's my daily goal which I keep doing poorly on.
Today starts my puree section so hopefully it will follow with liquids.
Good luck!
Take care

Boy - do I ever know what you mean about feeling that you are in a race against the clock - I didn't lose last week and my mind is freaking out a bit. I even joined a calorie counting website - mostly to track protein but I also want to make sure that I am not inadvertently eating 6,000 calories. It is weird but I just don't trust anything, especially my judgment, after 25 years of dieting and still being morbidly obese. This feels like a total mind bender right now.
Topic: Is your body holding on to pounds?
I had my surgery on December 17th and lost 10 lbs very quickly - I have hovered at the same weight for over a week (actually I went up a couple lbs and then back down) What is your body doing?
Topic: RE: Recent post-ops
I am a week out tomorrow and am having soooo much trouble getting my water in. Thankfully I move to full liquids tomorrow which should make it somewhat easier (thats what I'm telling myself anyway lol). I am down 13 pounds right now (yippee!!)
On to your questions
1) Whats going on this week - I am looking forward to more flavors of liquids lol
2) Thoughts, Fears, blessings - I am truly blessed to have come out of the surgery healthy with no complications. I have had a relatively easy recover (little pain but nothing extreme). I just keep reading to see whats coming next.
3) Hit a stall - too early for that yet
4) Cry Baby - immediately before the surgery YES ... so far after, not yet lol
5) Side Effects - hate the damn hiccup I get after I drink.

Topic: RE: No cake for birthday tommorow
I feel your pain, Jen. My birthday was Christmas Eve and my surgery was on Dec. 10th. My in-laws were here and they had tiramisu with my husband while I had sf pudding. I did love the pudding but I sure wish I could've had some birthday cake. I really missed it. I always have strawberry shortcake on my b'day. Maybe next year...I'll make one from sf angelfood cake and sf/ff cool whip.
Hang in there. You've begun a journey that will include lots and lots of birthdays to come...birthdays filled with healthy birthday cakes!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JEN!!!

Thanks for the welcome, Gen! I hit my first stall about a week after surgery. It lasted about one week and now it's gone. Yippee!!! I love watching the scale move down. I don't know how I would've reacted if I had not found out about stalls and what they are from this website. It's a godsend.
Hang in there! This too shall pass!

I know it's normal, but it does SUCK! Oh well. I guess its just a matter of taking it one day at a time.
