Topic: RE: Trying to find lab band doctor in Cameron County, TX
This is a question that you may want to ask on your state board. To get to the state board, go up to where it says "Go Local" and select Texas from the drop down list. Then click "go". You may get better info there. Just in case that is not helpful, or that board is inactive, I did find this list of Texas LapBand doctors: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeons+performing+Lap+Band+in+texas.h tml Hope this helps. Best of Luck.

Hi and welcome to OH! Congrats on your upcoming surgery. I expect that you are probably both excited and nervous about all of the changes to come. This is a GREAT place to discuss those issues as well as ask any questions you may have. If you are interested in meeting others with surgery dates in January, just click January 2008 in the drop down list above and then hit go. It will take you to a similar message board for those having surgery in January. There are also state boards, and if you would like to meet people from your state, there is a drop down box marked "go local". Just select your state and it will take you to your OH "neighbors" There are also forums based on the type of surgery you are having (i.e. RNY, LapBand, DS, etc.) so have fun exploring, and let us know ANY time you have questions or just want to talk. I look forward to more post from you!

Topic: RE: No cake for birthday tommorow
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! It's not silly at all, mourning food is all part of the process. I LOVE Birthday Cake!! I used to buy Birthday Cake even when it wasn't my birthday! I even wrote "happy birthday" on it. Yes I know it's weird, but there is just something about celebration cakes that I love! And don't get me started on cupcakes...mmmmm...little mini celebrations...lol.....ooohhh and cookies...lol......see what you started Unfortunately I can't offer up any suggestions other than a couple of very small bites of sugar-free cake, like one made with splenda. But this soon post-op, that may not be a good idea. A better option may be to come up with a new birthday tradition not based on food. Best of luck, and Happy Birthday

Well, it has been about 2 weeks since my surgery, and I figured I'd take the time to check in with everybody and see how everyone is doing. I'm a bit of a mess this week. I hit a stall already, but I know that is to be expected. Even though I knew it could happen, I'm still having a hard time dealing with it. I wish my body would just realize that I'm doing what I'm supposed to and just catch up already! As if a stall isn't bad enough, I've also become an emotional mess. I know its the anestesia still leaving my body, and the "hormone havoc" too, but I'm just not used to being this emotional....I HATE IT!!! I feel so needy and weepy all the time! IT SUCKS!!! But, enough about me! How is everyone else doing? I know that all of us on this board are about 1-4 weeks out so I think this is a great place to exchange experiences and prepare each other for what to expect in the coming weeks. So SHARE SHARE SHARE...Let's all stick together and keep this board active.....let's lean on each other and support each other through this journey. What's going on with you this week? What are your thoughts, fears, blessings? Have you hit a stall yet? How long did it last? Are you a cry baby too? lol Any other "side effects"? Suggestions to keep this board alive and active? Talk to me people................

I know it's really silly, but I'm sad that I can't have cake on my birthday. I only eat pinapple upside down cake once a year on my birthday. I didn't have any trouble not eating all the holiday goodies and sweets, but this time I'm really struggling with it. Any Ideas?

Hello all, I am another newbie. Had my Lapband 12/27/07. lost 15lbs on preop diet, and another 5 on the postop. Only 106 more to go.... Seems like a long road ahead.

Hi Liz. I'm doing really well. I've been able to chew my own food for a couple of days now and I'm lovin' it! I've had refried beans with ff sour cream. I love it! Tonight hubby's making me a chicken burger (yum) and broccoli. It's really great to eat again. And so far so good. When do you get to eat again?

I came home on Saturday too. When the hospital called on Sunday to check on me they basically told me that I should use the Lortab before I shower (I overdid it on Saturday and moved wrong) and before I go to bed. Not only does it help me wake up less sore ... but I'm actually able to sleep soundly for at least 6-7 hours. Everyday I feel a little better ... I know this is definitely going to be ongoing and was prepared for it (thankfully lol). My biggest problem is getting in the 64ozs of water. I discovered yesterday that the ice chips help with that ... and it lets me have something to "chew" on. I start my full liquids on Thursday and already have my grocery list ready! lol The one thing they did tell me was to not sleep in my recliner because it completely limits movement which can increase the risk of blood clots. But that it was fine to sit in it during the day since I was awake and was able to get up and move a lot. I am down about 8lbs from discharge already ... can't beat that!! Good Luck everyone!!!
