5 days to go for me...I am trying to choke down these advance recovery protein shakes, as they make my stomach do rolls. I get so sick from them I have to lay down. I am happy that the only day I have liquid diet is the day before surgery. In regards to the puree stage, a friend of mine who had surgery about 2 years ago, says to use some chicken broth, no****er or milk and use some potatoe, cauliflower, or some type of bean. and blend it together. It is not the taste butthe consistency and feel of it in your mouth that is hard. Here is something else my friend told me to do...If you have a Container Store in your area, they have leak proof bottles in 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8 oz sizes. I bought some of these bottles so my stuff can be premeasured for my lunch box when I return to work. I found that store to be awsome. I so badly want to get a bunch of stuff for organizing. I think that will be on the agenda in 2008.

HAHA I feel the same way about the "puree" stage LOL I would rather stick with full liquids for an additional 2 weeks lol I can't believe we are just right around the corner.

Hi Brenda! I am a CA blue cross HMO'er! I had absolutely no problem with blue cross and would recommend them to everyone! I started the process on Nov 6th 2007 and my surgery date is Dec 31, 2007! Everything went smoothly. I would just recommend that you follow up with every step. Leaving the staff to "just remember you" does not work. I called and called until I was on a first name basis with the staff. The squeaky wheel gets the grease! Good luck to you both! Heather C RNY, DEC 31 '07

4 days to go, I thought I would check in on the December boards. I'm stalking all of you to watch how you're doing ;) I've been struggling a little with my pre-op liquid diet but my nut said "if you're going to cheat, cheat with meat" so protein it is. I am not worried about the surgery itself, I think I am more worried about the 'puree' stage afterwards - no way am I putting chicken in a blender. I will have to find other stuff lol I know our taste buds change after surgery and I am hoping I begin to like yogurt and some of the things I don't like now. I am going to try. Good luck to everyone that goes this week!

I wish I had answers to solve the head hunger issue. I will be facing this myself in just a matter of days. Find something else to do when the rest of your family is eating, or sit with them an drink some broth or eat SF jello. An idea would be to take a bath or shower, this way you not drooling at the dinner table. I would also have the kids and hubby scrape their plates into the trash, and have someone else put away the left overs.

My mom always makes sugar cookies with my boys every Christmas, so I was at my mom's house tonite making sugar cookies. Lord, I could have ate all the dough! Hang in there we will make it. If we can just get past the next few weeks.

I am new to all this. I had duodenal switch on 12/10 and am slowly feeling better each day. I have lost 22lbs since surgery. My pre-op weight was 378. I am looking forward to being apart of this group of people. If anyone who has had the duodenal switch has any advice I welcome anything! I need all I can get! Merry Christmas to All!

Thanks for your response. I'm sticking to liquid diet now. I am mourning food and I'm watching my family eat it and I dont feel full. I've cried all day cus I feel like this surgery didn't work for me. I thought it was an automatic fix where I dont have to use willpower. I just thought from everything I've heard, that most people don't even want food and their not hungry. maybe i've just set myself up. Sorry I'm such a downer but I'm very depressed.
