Folks, as a result of the AHS survey that was conducted this year, AHS has created their own post bariatric support group. It will have a monthly meetings with a set topic for discussion. I've attached the schedule for your information. Please support this new venture. It's been a long time coming that AHS puts their hand into bariatric support. It was the one thing that was missing from already awesome program.

I am not sure what this means for EBSG or pre-op patients, but I think that will become clearer in the upcoming months as we see how successful the AHS is. Therefore, please support their efforts.

Is the other support group going to still be going on?

This is for post surgery and I'm currently on the waitlist, and your other group is for before and after.

Just wondering.

Thanks.

Have you contacted AHS to indicate that you would like to see a similar group setup in Calgary?

There is long history around how the AHS Edmonton post-op support group came into being. It took years for this to occur and pressure from various organizations and people to make happen.  At this point, I believe, the AHS group is a pilot and will be assessed at the end of the year to see if it should continue.  Maybe it will be expanded out to other cities if it proves successful.  Just my opinion.

Cheers!
