Hi! I'm just starting the whole process in Calgary. I'm waiting to hear....how long did it take for you to hear from them? Do you know anything else about the process here?
Everything went well! Thank you for asking and for thinking about me! I am anxious to get back home with my family! I am having some headaches and bloating but it seems to be the norm from what I've read!
Hi everyone,
Surgery was on Tuesday here in Puerto VALLERTA! Dr Joya and his team were amazing. I'm a little sore on my belly and have some headaches probably due to the lack of nutrients but I'm feeling pretty good! As much as I love the weather I am anxious to get home tomorrow despite the fact we now have more snow in Calgary! I do feel a lot of hunger pains but that is probably cause I haven't eaten since Monday! Drinking water and apple juice helps! Thanks to everyone who offered their support and kind words!

I got a letter the other day from AHS telling me I was accepted into the Calgary Bariatric Specialty Clinic program and now I'm attending an information session on April 12th. Anyone else go through this information session?
I know a lot of people are going to Mexico to get the surgery done, but I just can't afford to travel to get this done, so I'll be playing the waiting game with Alberta Health. Unfortunately from what I've read, it's going to be a loooong wait. Anyone else in the same boat?
What kind of program are you in. I had my surgery in Mississauga in October, as Dr. Mitchell was not quite doing them yet here in Calgary. I would really like to get into a support group of some kind here in Calgary, but don't know where to look. I really do not like the Lapband Connect site and am looking for more of a "live" group to talk with. Is there anything here in Calgary like that?
Dr. Mitchell in Calgary does lap band surgery.
1. Rent or borrow a walker, it is hard to stand up and walk for a week or so
2. Sleep in a recliner
3. Rest most of the time while healing, let others help you
4. Put pads under you when sleeping in case of blood leaking from an incision
5. Wear a stage 2 binder for the first few months
Hi Everyone,
I'm home from the hospital. My surgery went awesome and everything went great. It was way easier than my rny. I only stayed 1 day in hospital and then they said I was good to go.
I do have a binder on(like a girdle) and will have to keep it on for 3 to 4 weeks. I know after a few weeks I will be itching to get it off. Overall I have minimal pain and I'm very pleased with the results. Will post before and after pics after the incision heals a bit.
Cheers.
Stephanie
Good Luck, hope all goes well.
