WTG - you're doing great. Thanks for sharing, I'm the largest in my work as well. This will be a victory for me too.
Does Dr. Nohr do the sleeve now as well as the RNY? That's awesome. Two years ago, I think he was only doing RNY. At least I never got the option of the sleeve. Back then it was a min of 100 lbs overweight to get the RNY. I think a little less if you had additional medical issues. As for max, I am not sure.
A couple weeks before your surgery, Dr. Nohr's office will call you to get some blood work done. Otherwise, all I did was get my house in order, premade some meals for my family, and even though Dr. Nohr never required any liquid diet beforehand, I lost 5 lbs just to ease my mind about my liver. Probably did not shrink much but at least I felt better.
Don't worry. Dr. Nohr's awesome as is the staff at the Medicine Hat hospital. Just get mentally prepared for yourself. This whole process is quite an adjustment to your life as you know it. But it's all good. Good luck!
Wow! life is surely going fast. Between my kids, the house and my job, I don't have a lot to come here as often than I want.
So, as you see on my track down there, the weight is still going down. I can't believe that I had the surgery only 8 months ago! When I started this journey, I though that It will take me between 18-24 months to achieve my goal. And now, I'm only 40lb away! I still enjoy my sleeve. Today I went shopping. I really needed new pants....It took a long time before I need new clothes and I was kinda wondering if I was really loosing. But today, when I try different sizes, I realize that at 400lb my clothes were too small for me. But I didn't have the choice: It was the biggest sizes in store (5X-6X). And now I'm at size 20 in pants and 1X for the tops. Hooray!!!!!
I had a HUGE NSV last week. I was talking with a colleague at work and she told me her weight. For the first time in the past years, I was not the biggest! When I look at me it's hard sometimes to see my real size. My mind is still thinking that I'm 400lb. So it was weird to look at her and believe that I'm smaller.
Hello Everyone!
I was wondering if anyone has had gastric bypass with Dr.Nohr recently? I am scheduled for surgery on January 13,2014. Its been so long since I had my appointment with Dr.Nohr that I don't feel prepared, and its making me nervous!!
I know I have to phone my height and weight in a month before my date, but it there anything else I will need to do? More blood work or a pre op with my family doctor? anything like that?
I don't live in Medicine Hat any more, so i just want to be prepared!
Anyones input or advice would be appreciated!
Thanks!!
Renee
