Hi Lori
My dr was Dr Aceves, absolutely no problems and I know 4 other people he has done. The cost for an RNY was 11k this summer.
Hospital Almater was the facility and again , no problems.
I felt cared for from the moment I spoke to his booking clerk. Drs and nurses constantly doting over you and no icky sick people around.

I can't say enough, if you are considering private then he's the man.

I recommend talking to Kelly -Anne as well. She was the lady I talked to when I was first researching him.

Best of luck

Hi Miss dede :)

I'm not in your area but wanted to inquire about your surgery done south of the border. I am looking at the Mexican Bariatric Hospital in Tijuana and am hoping that you can advise me on where you had the surgery done, who the doctor was cost etc. Are you happy, did they take great care.

I would appreciate any words of advise that you have for me.

Thanks Lori

Hi Velma44 ,

Was interested in your post above having surgery done in Mexico. Could I ask where you had it done, who was the doctor, costs etc. Any problems ?

I have spent hrs looking at different clinics in Mexico and it would be nice to hear a recommendation from someone here in AB..

Talk soon

Hi Charlie,

Thanks for the post back to my questions. I am booking my surgery for November as it gives me some time to loose more weight. I will also have family members in San Diego at the same time I will be in Tijuana. . The hospital is The Mexico Bariatric Clinic. They have 3 locations in Mexico . I am quite excited and will be seeing my own doctor this coming Wednesday to discuss after care treatment etc. for after

I have spent hrs upon hrs doing my homework. I attended the bariatric weight loss program here in the city. Its started in March and it was 3 months long. I did all the follow ups with my dietician and the psychologist.

I realized after speaking to many people that they had waited years and in some cases were still waiting. Its a shame that Canada still does not consider this surgery a mandatory solution for people that are obese.

I will close for now but please stay in touch. Be well and happy :)

Hi Linda,,

Thanks for the response back to my questions. I sent you a direct email from the site here.

I will ask the room if they know any one that has surgery at the Mexico Bariatric Clinic in Tijuana. There are 2 other locations but I would prefer my surgery done in Tijuana as I will have family in California at the same time. San Diego to be precise.

The hospital does everything other than book our flights. They have called and spoke with me, emails back and forth. I feel that they are representing themselves in an open and honest manner. BUT . . that being said its always nice to hear from someone and their experiences with the hospital doctors nurses etc.

If anyone has any info regarding the hospital etc please let me know.I am hoping to actually speak with someone on a one to one base so that I can ask questions in detail.

I appreciate every post back that I have received here from all :)

Thanks Lori

I had my surgery in Mexico. I understand that Calgary surgeries are still pretty rare.

Thank you  so much.  Day 5 and I am feeling really great.  It's strange getting used to the new tummy and what to put in it these first few weeks but am feeling so much better than 2 days ago.  It's amazing what a day or two can make!  I am so happy to be on this side of the surgery. :)

Did you have your surgery in Calgary, too, or did you go elsewhere??

Take care.

I can't speak specifically to the reason why but I can tell you my experiences meeting with Dr. Modi have all been positive. She is very personable and seems genuinely caring. She can also be direct and to the point.

Lori there are lots of us who went to Mexico and as you might expect, the vast majority of us had excellent experiences there and great weight loss results.  The costs vary, but are quite reasonable when compared to Canada.  Happy to chat further by PM.
