It's covered by alberta health care.  I dont know how it would work out of province.  I work for calgary lab service and i know lab tests are covered with your BC health.  BC pays alberta back for those.  So it might depend on whats covered in BC.  As long as you have a BMI over 40 in alberta or a 35 with two comorbidities it's covered

Thanks Tara, does Alberta Medical cover it at all or your insurance or are you all out of pocket?

There are a few different clinics in alberta that do sleeve surgery.  All of them require a referral from your doctor.

http://www.albertahealthservices.ca/services.asp?pid=service &rid=1008786

thats a link to the information about the clinic in Calgary.   I've heard the wait times there are very long.   But there is other clinics in red deer, Edmonton, and Medicine Hat.  Talk to your doctor he might prefer one to the other.

I live in Calgary and go to the red deer clinic.  I have my orientation there next month!   Good luck.  And keep us posted

Had my 9 months appointment at my clinic today and we agree that it's an okay time for me to start looking at surgeons.  Any recommendations?

Yes I'm currently in the study.  I also got the online modules.  So far they've been pretty good.  But yes it does get things moving faster.  I've got my orientation October 7th in Red Deer.  You can google it to read about it

Topic: Please help me prepare for many surgeries

On Sept 29 2014 I am having a full tummy tuck with lipo, thigh lift, monsplasty, breast lift and implants.

Please give me any advice you think I may need, as well as what I should purchase to have on hand for the recovery and during the 2 day hospital stay.

Thank you
