Topic: Please help me prepare for many surgeries

On Sept 29 2014 I am having a full tummy tuck with lipo, thigh lift, monsplasty, breast lift and implants.

Please give me any advice you think I may need, as well as what I should purchase to have on hand for the recovery and during the 2 day hospital stay.

Thank you

Topic: RE: Protein powder! Whatcha using?

I never used thge protein shakes as I have a milk protein allergy but I have been told many times that what you like before surgery you tend to not like after surgery. Things taste different and sweet stuff is just sickening. I couldn't even do crystal light after surgery it was just way too sweet and it turned my tummy. A lot of the girls I met through the clinic spent a ton of money on shakes to only trad them off to others or give them away. It's trail and error cause what one person like may not suit someone else.

Hey everyone,

I'm just starting with the clinic but I have a protein shake for breakfast everyday, and have for years.  I'm wondering what you guys are using and liking. Cause if I could find something good now and start using it so I can get use to the flavour and stuff. It would be better for me later on.  Thanks!

Topic: RE: Mexico Surgeries

Hello!!

I went down to Mexicali from San Diego for my sleeve.  I would also recommend anyone to go and get surgery over there.  Just make sure that doctors are certified and that the facilities meet standards just as you would do here in the U.S.  It's been almost 4 months and 45 pounds and couldn't be happier!  My pocket is also happy! lol

Topic: RE: Post op care Dr. ?

Hi Megan,

I know that there is a special clinic at the Royal Alex that does out of country revisions of bariatric surgeries, I am not sure if they will also provide post op care through their doctors.

Topic: YMCA Membership for Sale

I don't know if it's ok to "advertise" here but I figured I'd try in case someone could use it or knows someone that could. I am trying to sell an adult plus 1 year membership to the YMCA. Retail value $1274.50 asking $500. Joining date must be before December 31, 2014. I won this through a contest this summer but I could use the cash more to pay some bills (single mom) and in turn help someone else out by saving on a membership. If you or anyone you know is interested, let me know.

Topic: RE: Stats on regain after surgery

My mom had her stomach stapled probably 30 years ago and lost 100lbs. She did gain it back, but not until 20 years after when her and my dad divorced. She recently had the VSG done again in Mexico and has since lost all the weight again.

Her advice to me (getting VSG in January) is to NEVER go a week without stepping on the scale. She had so much going on in her life and got scared to step back on it when she gained the weight. Had she done so she would have realized much sooner that it was becoming a big issue. She says now when she steps on and sees a 5lb. gain she gets herself in check and goes back to the boo****il she looses 7lbs. Small weight losses and gains are much easier to combat and control she says, and her advice is to simply check the scale and hold yourself accountable!

They accept out of province for in the regular part of the clinic so I don't see why they wouldn't for a revision.  Wait time is about 9 months to get into the clinic right now. I'm not sure if it's different for a revision. Are you on facebook?  There is an edmonton group and some people have had revisions so they could answer your questions better!
