I'm having trouble taking my calcium citrate....I ordered some from bariatric advantage....i tried the sample (chocolate) that Dr. Freeman's office gave me....tried it like after surgery when I got home and it was fine....2 weeks later got mine in...and i can't stand it....for some reason I swear it gags me ...the taste.....for some reason my taste has changed. Anyway, I also had ordered a different kind, chewable, fruit flavored...of course the things are the size of silver dollars....ok i just got a shiver thining about eating them.....

Yes, it needs to be citrate - we absorb that better. I was fortunate, I never had any problem swallowing pills...never took chewables of any kind. Hopefully, your tastes will change back, and you'll be able to take the ones you ordered.
I bought my calcium at CVS - their own brand of Calcium Citrate. The pills are small caplets and easy to swallow. They frequently run them 'buy one, get one free', so it helps w/the cost. ($9.99ea). Anyway, they were small and smooth and not intimidating.
It is VERY important that you get your calcium - so be sure you find something you can tolerate.
Good luck.

Also, Donna...do not take the calcium right when you are taking your other vitamins. They work against each other (or that is what the doc told me, anyway). Take them several hours away from each other. I just take the kind that LIsa told you about. If you cannot take those, call the doc and ask them. They may have another suggestion. How you doing otherwise??? You have a great great day today!!!
Hi Donna. I to have a problem swallowing pills after surgery. I have not yet found a calcium that i can tolerate for long. I have the Bariatric advantage calcium in orange and it is good but not something that I would like to chew several times a day. I have been bad with taking the calcium and it does show. The dexa scan I had in April showed bone loss in the hips so I have got to get better. I am going to go and get some that Lisa is talking about and try them. I wish you luck in finding one that you can tolerate.
i buy my calcium citrate from vitalady. i use upcal d and also nature's science calcium citrate with vitamin d and magnesium. the upcal d is a powder and you can put it into any drink and it won't change the flavor of it. the nature's science one is a capsule so i just open it up and dump it into my fiber drinks and it doesn't change the taste or texture either
