OT-Honey, I'm home!
Welcome home!! I can sooooooo relate to your sleeping issues. After sleeping alone for 38 1/2 years, getting married and sharing the bed with another person, AND a dauschund (who was there before me, lol) was quite an adjustment. I slept very little for the first few months. It all works itself out...but I'll be praying for ya!
Hope the kitties adjust well - I'm with Miss Mary - it's most likely stress, or maybe even allergies. Our Rottendawg has horrible allergies, we've spent lots of $$ and finally have decided it's just a result of moving him to Alabama.
I'll be praying for ya - early married life is very exciting, but quite challenging too, lol.

Hey Lucy ~
So glad to see you HOME.. :o) I think your kitties have allergies.. I would call the vet and see if you can give them Benadryl.. We have to give our dog benadryl (ok'd by vet and inexpensive) because of his allergies. Just not sure if it has the same reaction with cats. We also give him Fish Oil vitamins (just 1). He loves them and its great for their skin and coat..

Welcome home Lucy......
Alex the Cat~~~the first thing that pops into my mind,
(which right now is clouded with Lortab 10's and Phenergan 25mg) is Allergies. Is there carpet in the
"New House" ? Some years back, we had new carpet put in and our long hair cat suddenly started scratching and loosing hair like never before. We ended up taking him to the vet and he was diagnosed with a two fold problem. The first was a possible allergy to the chemicals in the carpet and second was and ajustment reaction. The vet said that Cats freqently will have adjustment problems to "flooring" because they find favorite spots to lay on and then when they are moved or the flooring is changed they will develop reactions to it--both physically and mentally.
Long story short, they gave our cat antibiotics to be sure the raw spots healed properly and gave him steroids just in case it were true allergies. After a couple of weeks the problem went away. (After we gave him a section of the old carpet that had been removed for him to lay on at his leisure.) Eventually he grew to accept the new carpeting and all was well. (PS--he loves our hardwood floors now!)
Good Luck with your sleep and the cat! If all else fails,
just kick Randall to the couch and you and the cats can enjoy your sleep!

When my cat got sores around his neck area, it was dx as allergies and we had to put him on allergy medications. Don't forget, we have a lot of different allergens down here that you didn't have in MN. We seem to have an over abundance of them...lol. A good vet should be able to put you on the right track. Thankfully, our vet specializes in pet allergies. I just took my two kitties to the vet today for their routine checkups. Give them lots of love as they adjust to their new home.
Those little furballs sure do know how to take over a bed, don't they? What kind of cats do you have? Mine are persian/siamese mix. One looks like a short-haired persian (without the smasked nose), the other looks like a blue point siamese. They are our babies...now that we are empty nesters.
