Two Questions...

Good morning, I was just wondering if anyone is near Harrison? It would be wonderful to make a friend... Secondly, I am no where near any type of surgery, having not even talked to my doctor about my renewed interest, but was wondering if surgery works well for someone that does not eat huge amounts of food? I have gotten both my quantity and quality of food under pretty good control, but get very little to no exercise, and I guess I wonder if surgery will ultimately help me. I was refused when I applied for RNY a couple of years ago, didn't pass the psyc evaluation I guess. The insurance said they didn't believe I was fully aware of all the possible consequences involved, and also, that I had unreal expectations about what weight loss would mean to my quality of life. Silly me, I believe it will give me more confidence and raise my self-esteem, along with affect how others see me. Pretty far-reaching expectations i guess. Anyway, that was another insurance, and I haven't tried this one yet.. (Blue Cross/ Blue shield) So we shall see if I decide to try again. I admit I'm impatient, and need a boost to get started on things at times, but doesn't everyone do this because they see it improving their lives? Just wondering. Have a great day all, School starts for me today also

Jeanette, yes surgery works for someone that doesnt eat hugh amounts of food too. I was what was considered a light weight. I weighed 258 pounds before surgery that was almost 5 months ago I now weigh 194.. Still a lot of weight but am wearing size 10s. Feeling so good , need to loose more weight but it is coming off very slow. but it is coming off. I havent had the huge weight loss that a lot of people have but then I am 65 years old . and that has something to do with it too. I no longer take blood pressure meds , or fluid pills to get rid of excess fluid on my body. I take more pills than before but it is multi vits., calcium, vit b complex, and b-12 I still have arthritis but that is becasue the weight had done so much damage over the years if i could have had this done in my 30s or 40s i wouldnt be in pain now with that. I live only about 20 miles from you as the crow flies but is about 70 miles from you by road. lol I live in Cedarcreek Mo which is about 26 miles south of Forsyth. We live right on lake Bull Shoals. Got a boat? Jan

Hello Jan, Good to meet you. I know approx where you are. One of our son's lives just outside Branson, (the name slipped my mind) We go to Springfield, Branson, or to see our son and family regularly. Maybe some time we can get together. Nice to meet you, Jeanette

Hello, I'm in Mountain Home I don't really know how close that is to you. I know that when I chose to have the surgery it was to have a better quality of life. The insurance usually won't cover it falls under "cosmetic" instead of medical. Not sure if the info I gave you still stands but it might be worth checking into. You sound like you have a plan already though without surgery all you need to do is add more exercise in. So make sure its really what you want to do long before you start making plans. Have a great day. Good luck with school.

Hi Jennifer, Mountain Home isn't too far away. If you were to take hwy 65 toward Missouri, you would go through Harrison. I always have 'plans' on what I want to do, good intentions and all, it's just a matter of putting them to work, to make them reality. I have an exercise option I can do, I just have to get to my doctor and get a prescription to do it. I'm afraid I procrastinate badly at times. I don't know how our current insurance treats surgery, but I need to find out, and then I'll be able to know all my options so I can decide where the Lord wants me to go. It's good to meet you, how is your loss going btw? God Bless, jeanette

I live in Fayetteville and come through Harrison a lot. Hubby and I trek through the woods up there looking for rocks, and we go around you when we head to Missouri to visit Joe and Jan. Anyways, I'm close enough for a visit if you want to drive up here or the next time I come that way, I'll give you a hollar.

Hi there. I am not too far from you. I live in Springdale. I had RNY with Dr. Baker in Little Rock February 20, 2006 and I'm down 133 lbs. I am so happy that I had this surgery! I still have about 40 lbs. to go to hit my personal goal. I know I will get there. I think the surgery is a very personal decision and if it's right for you... go for it! I get to Harrison occasionally for my work. We also have some of us in AR who meet and have lunch and talk. We did it this month and met in Russelville and want to do it again in February. Not sure where! Maybe you could join us. Good luck on whatever you chose. Margie
