Tired of the same thing for Breakfast- HELP PLEASE!

I had RNY WLS on 5/5/08. Had several complications & a second surgery to fix the complications on 6/16/08. So, I am basically 2+ months out.  I usually make an omlet with Ham, Onion, Tomato & sometimes cheese for breakfast. I use 2 eggs to get everything mixed together & coated.  I eat anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 of the omlet. Usually the leftover half or so goes to my dog Charlie or my husband will eat it.

I also do just an egg with ham lunch meat on the side.  That is usually when I am out of tomato &/or onion.

So, I am sure you can see that having eaten the same thing for at least 1 entire month has gotten to be very boring for me.  I hope that someone out there can give me some advise on what to eat for breakfast.

I can't tolerate cottage cheese so there goes that idea! lol -  I have had yogurt 1 - 2 times but I wasn't really satisfied with it.

Please tell me what you do for Breakfast.  Hey, if you got lunch & dinner ideas you are willing to share I am willing to listen! LOL - I think I am just at a spot were the food has become so repetitive that I am starting to get burnt out with it.  I dont like that because I am affraid that I may end up either over-eating or eating something I am not supposed to have. LIKE CERAL! 0h how I miss fruit loops & cold Vitamin D Milk! YUMM-O

Thanks for all the replies -  I appreciate them so much!

When I don't do eggs in the AM I usually just have a glass of non fat milk. I agree eating the same thingd over and over can be boring BUT SAFE
You'll get plenty of idea from the folks here checkout eggfaces blog she has recipe for EVERYTHING.............

Thanks for the idea about the milk. I am not allowed to drink my food. So, no to protein shakes & other things that are considered soft calories. I hate following the doctors rules!  But, I keep doing so.  I will have to check out eggface. I was just on her page 2 days ago.

Thanks!

Breakfast is the hardest meal of the day for me.  I have found that I do best when I don't think of certain foods being related to specific daily meals.  For example, I have fresh salsa turkey and jack cheese in the frig.  I ate that today for 'breakfast'  along with a pickle.  At lunch today I had spaghetti sauce toppings (basically meat with cheese) with a piece of cracker bread.  For dinner tonight I will have a hamburger patty with chili.  So, basically every meal I had today was a lunch/dinner main course.

So, my advice to you is to think PROTEIN!  Try to not think of a meal as a certain food at a specific time of day.  This tends to help me get past the "What will I eat for breakfast today?" issue.

There's no rule that says you have to eat "breakfast food" for breakfast. Growing up we often had breakfast for dinner.

I eat anything I'm in the mood for, ham and cheese on triscuits, cheese, chili, peanut butter on a banana, steak, chicken, I've even had veggies and dip made with Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Heck I used to love left over lasagna (don't do that anymore).

Go wild eat something different!

I like a slice of ham with cheese roled up in it. I also like Mock Muffins. They are the best because you can make them head of time and then just zap them for 30 second and enjoy. They are great for "on the go" meals.

Good luck

Good Morning Becky....

Mock Muffins are made with eggs and look just like muffins. They are the bomb.

6 eggs srambled with a touch of cream to make 6 muffins (double if you wish to make more)
Meat of some type. (like groud turkey or groud beef)
Cheese

Cook you meat and drain, put a bit of meat and cheese into a into the muffin tin, add eggs to just under the top of the tin. Cook on 350 until golden brown, about 15-18 minutes. Be sure to spray the tin with some cooking oil or use muffin papers. They should be good for like a week in the icebox. They will rise and look just like muffin. MMM MMM good.

Cofffee: I am not sure what coffee you are talking about. But I only shop Stater Brothers, so I would guess I get it there.

Have a great day

I have to agree with checking out Eggface's site, her protein bites are to die for. She has endless ideas and all of them good!!
Do you like oatmeal? I do the steel cut oatmeal and I usually make protein oatmeal. I make a paste of protein powder and Lactaid (whatever milk you use), and a bit of some Torani syrup and add it to the oatmeal and mix in.  It is quite yummy! And I usually make the 3 serving amount and cut it into 4 sections and put 3 in containers to add the protein to later, so you have 3 days made ahead of time and don't have to make smaller batches more often. PButter mixed in is good too!

You say you've tried yogurt, but have you done the greek yogurt? It is thicker and has more protein. If you want recipes let me know.
And like the others said, it doesn't have to be a "breakfast" food, lunchmeat rollups are good anytime of day.
Kashi Go Lean (not the Crunch one) is good by itself (dry) or on top of one of my greek yogurt recipes. I also like it mixed with peanuts for a kind of sweet and salty mix!
I don't know if you can have them yet, but Eggface's tortilla pizza's are the bomb too!! My fave is with pesto sauce, feta cheese, shrimp, pineapple, and grated cheese, the BOMB!!!!!
Or if you can have tortillas, a quesadilla is good. I use low carb tortillas from Walmart that are really soft and I love them. They are LaBanderita brand. They look white, but they are whole wheat.
That's all I can think of right now. Hope some of this helps!!

Ditto on the mindset of breakfast.  Early on the things I had for breakfast...Peanutbutter on plain toast, egg or tuna salad with alittle low fat mayo and Mt. Olive Sugar Free Pickle Relish (made with Splenda).  Some cooked vegetables...some raw vegetables (have them in the front of the fridge so they're the first thing you see (exa. spinach leafs or carrots).
Wendi's Chili...I have it for breakfast every morning!!  Yeh, I know it sounds weard...But WLS people know it is not that weard...It's boring but safe (I know the protein, iron, and fiber are there) and it's very good for you.  A piece of string cheese wrapped in a piece of lunchen meat wrapped an a piece of dark lettece (maybe add some mayo or mustard).  Different raw nuts, including; almond, walnut, sunflower, pumpkin seed, dry roasted peanut, (watch for constipation on the nuts) soynuts.  Chicken or turkey or beef vegetable soup.  Hope these help.  Brian
