The $2 Challenge
Like the true running fool I am, I entered the San Francisco Half Marathon coming up in July. Once again I am running for charity. The YouthRun4Fun is a non-profit organization that sponsors running programs for inner-city at-risk youth in San Francisco.
If I reach my goal of $250 I get to run the 13.1 mile course for free. I also get to run over the Golden Gate Bridge...something I'm really excited about. This particular race is a challenge and a milestone for me. It will complete the third race in the California Dreamin' Race Series. (I already completed the Huntingon Beach, and Long Beach half marathons last year)
This race also requires that I run at a faster pace than what I'm used to, so I will have to train extra hard this summer.
Regardless, I have accomplished more than I ever thought possible because of weight-loss surgery. Only in my dreams did I ever think I would be able to run and to run for 13 miles is just amazing to me.
I have about $140 left to raise. So here is my $2 challenge for all of you.....
If you have lost 100 pounds or more, donate $2.
If you have ever dreamed of running or are already a runner, donate $2.
If you were the fat kid in gym class that couldn't run, $2.
If you are having or have already had surgery this year, $2. Class of 2009, represent!!!!
If you think I'm crazy...$2!
If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and worry about troubled youth in your community..$2!
If you have a teenager...$2!
If you can think of anymore to add to this list...please do!! Donate as many dollars as you'd like....it doesn't matter. I'm sure the OH community can put me over the top for a very good cause.
