Time is approaching fast to my surgery date, but I do have a question.  I know that everyone is different but what foods did you find that you had a hard time with.  I am just trying to figure out what I need to be careful with after surgery.

Hello.  I wish I could tell you.  However, as you said, everyone is different and unique.  I had the RNY (gastric bypass), which is much different from the lap band.  I am sure you will get responses back from this post.  In the meantime, I will check with some friends to see what I can find out about foods after surgery.
Have a great day.

It sure is good C'ING LESS OF ME!

We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
& all are different colors....but they

ALL exist very nicely in the same box.

Yes, everyone is very different. Your experience might be completely different from mine.

Eggs - could not eat them for the longest time. Then I discovered I could handle boiled eggs.  I can eat them now...usually. Sometimes I have an uncooperative pouch day...even after almost 2 years post op.

Fruit - still can't eat any fruit beyond apples. makes my pouch cranky.

ice cream, frozen yogurt - I've tried suagar free, lactose free, reduced fat etc....it all makes me wanna barf. Ice cream used to be a favorite treat, the thought of it grosses me out now.

You should get a list of foods from your surgeon that will take you through the immediate post stage diet through 8 weeks out. of what you can/should have.  But your body will have an individual response to specific items.

I have the Vertical Sleeve

Initially potatoes...mashed watered down, baked, 1 fry ANYTHING potato made me INSTANTLY throw up.  Lots of various things made me FULL faster, but nothing made me sick (like those damn potatoes).

Hi,
I had RNY and there were lots of things that I couldn't eat after surgery.

Chicken was hard for me - too dry, still is.  I can't eat white meat anymore.
I used to love sausage, now it makes me gag.
Potatoes are still hard for me to get down.  I can only eat a little bit  and I'm almost 3.5 years out.

My cousin had lap band a year before I had my surgery and she still can't eat any form of bread without throwing up.

Good luck!
