It's been a long while

hello Cali Crew.. it's been some time since I have been here.. just wanted to give a little update and see if I am alone in this.. well first I got married for those who did not know.. that being the good news... I am as of today ony 10 lbs away from my goal weight.  I feel great at the weight I am at and have maintained it for several months now not going down or up (thank God). Have had several complications.. my blood levels dropped drasticaly and I had to have verafin (could be spelling it wrong) treatments. Am I alone in this one, I do hear it is common after Gastric Bypass for those who have delt with enimia prior to surgery.  Then my gallbladder started really acting up and I had to have that removed.  It's been a month since and I feel a huge differance.. I can eat some of the things I was unable to eat prior to the removal such as eggs and chicken.. yet I am still finding myself lactose intolerant, which saddens me bc I love cheese. But I am learning their is some good goat cheese out there, just the fat content seems higher. oh well give a little take a little right.  Like I said I have maintained my weight at this level for several months and am happy with my apearance, just not as healthy as I would like to be.  Have been through several testing to see why my blood levels keep dropping and as of this moment I am undergoing a few female tests to see if maybe they are the cause of the problem, as my levels keep falling, even when I am taking the iron as prescribed.  Another down fall to all this is my hair DOES NOT grow.. as a matter of fact it falls out in big clumps still.  I had a bad hair cut (tried a new beautician) three months ago and still no hair growth, only continuel thinning.. :( Am I alone in this one too? Anyways didn't want this to be this long, but just a few concerns and questions.

Thanks again for taking the time to read this!!

MaryLouise, I am so proud of you.  Watching you drop the weight over these months has been exciting to see.  Sorry to hear about the anemia and the hair loss.  I'm sure it is frustrating...But hang in there girl.  You're in our thoughts and prayers.  Brian  PS  It was cool to watch you, Deanne, and April racing toward goal over the past year or so.

Thanks Brian... the weight loss has really changed my life for the possative and I am forever thankful that I had the support of others to help carry me through when I needed it.  Even though things have been rough lately I would still do it all over again..  It's all worth the way I feel now compared to two years ago.  Thanks again Brian.

Mary Louise...wow it is so great to see you! You look fantastic!

However I am sorry to hear that you have had problems. I had bad blood problems after all my reconstructive surgery and once your iron levels are depleated it is really hard to get them back because of the bypass.

I know what worked for me was taking Proferrin. I know that people disagree here and say oh it did not work for them, but it was a lifesaver for me as it was my last chance to absorb iron without having the infusions.

One month after I started taking it my iron levels were on the rise and continued. My hair did come back too. I was like is there any left to make a ponytail even!

I would look into the Proferrin as it digests in a different area of the body than regular iron does and it is non constipating. My friend who is an ICU physician who also had a bypass got me on it. He said the reason for the malabsorption in bypass people is that the area of the body where non bypass people absorb iron has been bypassed. Makes sense.

Go to your doctor and ask him prescribe you Proferrin ES. It is not a RX, but I cannot find it over the counter either. It is expensive....like about 60 some dollar per bottle, but OMG it was the biggest lifesaver when it came to my iron!

Congratulations on your marriage gf!!! I am really happy about that for you!

Thank you so much Janine, I will look into that.. I am hoping I can find something that is gonna not just absorb the iron as needed but in turn let my hair grow back.. I even take Biotin and yet as the hair grows rapidly everywhere else on my body, the hair on my head is still thinning.. lol oh well.. I guess I have to look at it like.. give a little take a little right..  Thank again.. I appreciate it!!  (((((BIG HUGS)))))

Congrats on your marriage! I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone....I had the very same treatments in December....they helped atleast for awhile and now I am still trying to find the best way to keep up on the iron levels/stay healthy through all of the ups and downs....You look great ! keep up the good work! There are three ways of dealing with difference: domination, compromise and integration. By domination only one side gets what it wants; by integration we find a way by which both sides may get what they wish.........
