MaryLouise, I am so proud of you. Watching you drop the weight over these months has been exciting to see. Sorry to hear about the anemia and the hair loss. I'm sure it is frustrating...But hang in there girl. You're in our thoughts and prayers. Brian PS It was cool to watch you, Deanne, and April racing toward goal over the past year or so.

Mary Louise...wow it is so great to see you! You look fantastic!
However I am sorry to hear that you have had problems. I had bad blood problems after all my reconstructive surgery and once your iron levels are depleated it is really hard to get them back because of the bypass.
I know what worked for me was taking Proferrin. I know that people disagree here and say oh it did not work for them, but it was a lifesaver for me as it was my last chance to absorb iron without having the infusions.
One month after I started taking it my iron levels were on the rise and continued. My hair did come back too. I was like is there any left to make a ponytail even!
I would look into the Proferrin as it digests in a different area of the body than regular iron does and it is non constipating. My friend who is an ICU physician who also had a bypass got me on it. He said the reason for the malabsorption in bypass people is that the area of the body where non bypass people absorb iron has been bypassed. Makes sense.
Go to your doctor and ask him prescribe you Proferrin ES. It is not a RX, but I cannot find it over the counter either. It is expensive....like about 60 some dollar per bottle, but OMG it was the biggest lifesaver when it came to my iron!
Congratulations on your marriage gf!!! I am really happy about that for you!
