My day(s) in hell-0

I have not talked about this on the boards. But I had a few days in hell…   Last week someone barrowed some money from my checking account. Left me holding the bag for their $1800 dollar fishing trip for them and 7 of there closets friends. I hope they where able to enjoy their trip. I went to transfer some money into my sister account and there was none. What the holey heck!!???!!!?? Infect, I was at minus balance. Ohh shi* and I have bills out pending. I called the bank right away, and they where so very nice about it. Once I could prove I was not in Florida fishing with my buddies, they opened a new account and put my money back. And they promised to clear and outstanding checks, with out pouncing them for me.  There where calling the police and Liz told me I should do the same. Now mind you, I was at work. The jack butt that should up, all but flat told me that it was my bills and that I was just jerking the bank around. Even with my supervisor sitting right there, telling him I was at work on the day in question. Once he left me he went to the bank and told them what he thought. ( I think he thinks my boss and I went fishing with a few co-workes) The banker called him a few not so nice names and told me not to worry.   So, Saturday, I went to the bank, opened my new account. Then on Monday I was setting up my account and kept thinking some thing looks wrong. But because the bank changed its web page, I thought for sure it was just me. But it was still bugging me, and then it hit me. OHHH SHI****** where are my CD’s??? I had 6 of them and they didn’t follow over to my new account. So I went down to the bank in a panic. BIG TIME!!! Once again, Liz calmed me down and told me they would find them and all would be good. It seems like who ever was living high on my, started taking them like 6 weeks ago, before hitting my checking. I never even notices, my CD where just there, I never paid attention to them. At first the bank didn’t believe me about them. Oh they could tell I had them at one time, but they didn’t believe that I was not the one taking them out. After about 3 hours, they figured out once again, it all happened out of state. (Can you say INSIDE job?) They did give them back to me, and all was looking good, until today, when I went to use my ATM. There was a bank hold. What the flip???? So off to the bank I go. I should be on first name bases with them by now. The bank boss came out and told me, someone in a different state hit my account again. They closed my account along with about 1400 hundred others. YAP INSIDE JOB!!!!!! This the second time this has happened at this bank. This time, they wont open me a new account until they figure this out. They will clear any bills that com in, and I might get to open the new account on monday. ( not a penny to my name for 5days UGH) IF I open it there, I’m thinking about a new bank at this time. I guess it’s a good thing I work this weekend and won’t be going anywhere and need money. What a joke this week has been. I am so thankful to Liz, for making laugh about it, Even when I wanted to cry. Yah Yah Yah, it would be funny, if it was someone else………..Well no. it would not be. It feels like a some one had violated me. I wonder if I should star****ching for nudey picture of me on the internet…..   Ohh well Living broke in Riverside…

Hello Living Broke...

First of all I'd like to say I'm sorry for what has happened to you. You're obviously a victim of identity theft and fraud.

Secondly it is absolute BULL**** that your financial institution won't open a new account for you until this is resolved. I work in a reputable financial institution in the SF Bay Area and we have NEVER told a client we wouldn't open a new account for them. If I were you I'd get your money back and change banks! There is absolutely no need for you to have to deal with this.

I don't mean to rant and rave on your part, but being a banker I find it appalling that another institution would allow something like this to happen... especially over a long period of time!

Good Luck on resolving this!

Hi Lu! Wow, you sure have been through Hell lately. I am so sorry that this happened not once but twice in just the space of a few days to a week. That really sucks. I hope it all get straightened out soon. And about the officer that came out, I'd report his attitude to his watch commander. Sending out love and big hugs! =)

OMG!  Is that Downey Savings/US Bank?  That happened to me last month.  Luckily, we have three accounts and it was the account that I use for "my woman junk" and I only had about $50 in there.  They were in Florida trying to spend $1000's.  Joke was on them.  That's what they get for picking on a broke person.  I'm not taking any chances and we are switching to a credit union.  I have to say that VISA fraud prevention called me when five charges where denied to ask me if I was in Florida or Georgia.  I was happy about that.  It's not the first time they have called me.  Usually, if I am on a trip or buy a lot of stuff on-line, VISA checks in with me.

Hang in there!!

OMG that really sux!!

this happened to me a few years back, and it really sucked.  It didn't take long to clear things up for me though.  My bank was uber cool, but BofA wouldn't issue me another credit card.  It didn't matter though, i never used the one they gave me anyways.
I hope this resolves quickly for you.

OMGoodness hun.. I am so sorry to hear about this.. I sure hope they can get this figured out once and for all. It is NOT easy to go through, but you are doing well holding your head high, and NOT taking any crap. I know it is super frustrating, but hopefully soon all this will be behind you.

I had my identity stolen once and they claimed that I was working at some office. (I had just left my fiance due to walking in on him doing drugs in front of my children, so I was a single mother in need of some help)  They turned me away and told me there was nothing I can do, as the person had my SSN and everything.. It was a battle to get that all taken care of. Mad, Frustrated, Scared not to get it back, Helpless.. Those were all feelings I had at the time, so I know that must be how you are feeling.

Being put in a situation like yours is not easy. You work so hard to earn money, and with a click of a button someone can ruin all that for you. Although some say money isn't everything, I sure think you need it to survive.

I am so sorry again.. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, and hope they are able to get this figured out for you once and for all..

BIG HUGS, and Keep that chin up..

Jenn

WOW......This experience sucks. I think I agree with you and change banks. I had to do that a few years ago myself. As far as that officer goes, I would nail him to the cross. There was no call for the way he treated you and should have been more professional. I would contact the Watch Commander and file a complaint on his actions. I have been in law enforcement for 22 years now and you just dont treat people this way.

Have a great day..........Rick

I'm thinking if it's your account AND your new account and this has happened to another customer at that bank...definitely inside job.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!
