I just got home from the hospital today.  I am still having major gas pain.  Does anyone have good advice to get rid of this besides walking?  I thought I read on a post a long time ago that it was okay to take gaviscon gel tabs to relieve the pain.  Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Mama! You must be feeling like crud right now. I am 3 weeks out, and believe me, it gets better. My nurse explained the gas to me this way...The air is in the wrong place so passing it isn't how to get rid of it. She said you must walk. I did. Last week I noticed that gas feeling was gone. I walked up and down the length of my house. 15 laps at a time. I really works. I know you didn't want to hear that...Just try to move around a lot.
I am so proud of you.

Each day you will feel 100% better than you did the day before..hard to believe..but true.  Rest, fluids, walk, rest, fluids, walk...take a bottle or glass of fluid to bed with you, you will be thristy at night...then rest, walk and sip some more..lol
Best wishes...

Have to agree with all the posts. Walk and fluids are the only way to really get it out of ya. Call Michelle at Dr. Suh's office and tell her about the gas pain. I had the same issue and they allowed me to take the Gas X strips and they worked like a champ. But everyone is different and you need to talk to the doctor first, but makle sure you are walking alot......

Have a great day.........Rick

Dr. Suh always suggests his patients try walking, if at all possilbe. Gas pains are common the first 1-2 days when you get home. My gas pains were horrible the 2nd night in the hospital, but were non existant when I got home. I did a log of walking though. I'd suggest you attend one or more of Dr. Suh's support groups each month.  You'll meet others there, who will help you through "issues" you may encounter your first few weeks out. Personally, I attend 3 of his meetings a month. Good luck. DAVE
