How cool for you.  Kaiser West LA is new in performing the bariatric surgery so  you might not find to many here on the boards.  I had mine in Harbor Kaiser!!  Congratulations!

I am also looking for information on this hospital. Please let me know if you find any. I have a consultation with Dr. Casillas on July 22. Have you met with any one yet? Have you been through all of the classes? Sorry for so many questions. Good Luck to you.

I am in week 14 of the classes so I'm almost done. We just recently gave our preferred location for the surgery and I wanted more info on the location I chose. I haven't met with anyone at the West LA Kaiser as of yet.

Hello from Long Beach,

You will find a few Kaiser patients on this site, but many of us had our surgery done at other locations because Kaiser contracts out the surgery.  However, I really enjoyed the classes and learned a lot of very useful information to help me with my surgery at Pacific Bariatrics in San Diego.  I made some very valuable friendships also from the class and we still stay in touch after 2 yrs.
Wishing you all the best and don't worry, Kaiser will take great care of you.

I'm set to have surgery this friday the 17th of july at west la kaiser and dr. casillas is doing the sleeve on me. He is a great doctor and i love that he is blunt and to the point but in a poilte yet fatherly way. The only thing most people wouldn't like is that these doctors here don't want you staying more than one day in te hospital. I'm okay with that, but he is a stickler in moving and walking around in order not to develop a deep vein thrombosis or a blood clot. Really nice and pleasant staff and comfortable to be around with. You'll like it and you'll feel cofortable. hopefully this answers some questions.

Thanks for the feedback. My biggest concern was the number of surgerys the site has done. I know it is not yet a center of excellence. This helps ease my worries though.
