A bunch of Questions....

So I am 3 weeks (as of Monday) PO, and well I'm not sure how I am doing. I get tired really quick it seems, My knees are weak the day after I exercise, so I am only doing my walks every other day, with the exception of walking our property chasing the lamb or pig, and yes I was told I was over doing things abit, my walks are usually about a mile.. And I have lost 24#'s since surgery.
So my questions are:
Why do I get so dang tired so easy?
How much weight is normal to lose at this time?
And is there anything else I need to do to build up my stanima?

I am getting close to 110 g of Protien a day (4 drinks that equal 24g per drink) plus what I eat. And I am taking my Vits faitfully.
Or am I just as my hubby says to impaitent?

Thanks in advance

Hi KarenAnn,

You're getting tired quickly because you just had major surgery! I am almost 9 weeks out now and while I am not nearly as fatigued as I was around a month or so out, I will get tired quickly and it will hit me like a ton of bricks.  I will feel energetic and fine and suddenly I'll be very tired. There seems to be no in between these days.  Also, you're not eating a lot of calories and exercising.

I lost 30 pounds in the first 3 weeks and was told it was almost too much or that I was losing at the same rate men usually lose so I imagine 24 pounds is great. I think this is really an individual thing, but it is nice to have benchmarks to compare ourselves to.

I think you just need to give yourself time. As you're able to eat a little more, that will give you energy and as your body heals, you will find you have more energy.

I hope that helps!

Hey Karen sounds like your doing great but to answer your questions...

Why do I get so dang tired so easy?

You just had major sugery. You body needs time to heal and get stronger. Also your eatting maybe 25% or less of the calores you use to eat. It going to take time for your body to catch up.

How much weight is normal to lose at this time?
There is no normal lose everyone is different. Sound like your doing great.

And is there anything else I need to do to build up my stanima?

Rest, eat your protein, drink your water and walk. Just give your body time heal.

Hi Karen

Congrats on your surgery and the beginning of your new life. I can share some of my experiences and hopefully others will chime in as well.

You just had major surgery and your body is trying to adjust. I was very tired for the first 6 to 8 weeks after my surgery. Our bodies were so use to having all those calories and now it thinks we are trying to starve it. Plus we go through Carb withdraw and the body hates that.

There is no normal for any one person as far as the weight loss goes. My first week I only lost one stinking pound so you losing 24 pounds in 3 weeks is great in my book.

Stamina takes time. I was so outta of shape so overweight (still am LOL) that I get tired easily. It took me a couple months post op to feel the energy as it were. I walked on my treadmill faithfully everyday and finally one day I realized I was not so tired.

Just give it a little time and one day you too will say WOW I couldnt do that before......Hope this helps

Have a great day............Rick

I am with Kevin on all points!! You are over doing and your DH is right.
On the other hand you are doing great...just slow down and give yourself time to recover from major surgery.

Ok, Ok, Ok, I get it, lol. I am like the Vulture in the old cartoon, "Paitence my a$$" , Thank you all so much for the kind words. I am sure you all know how badly I want and need this to go right, I want to do what needs to be done, and well when you have one of those I can do anything feeling days, it really sucks the next day to feel like OMG what did I do day. So I will slow down and try to get my head on right and work slower instead of wanting to do it all now.
(now if I can just figure out how to get that extra ticker deleted....) lol

No need to repeat what everyone said, and you said you got it.  I am the same way, want everything done and done yesterday.

Where you put in your ticker, just go back there and delete it, if you can't get it to delete, then get rid of them both and redo just the one.

Good luck, you are doing great
