It's Almost Apple Picking Time in Nor Cal

Yesterday at the Nor Cal luncheon, we talked about a road trip.....

Just east of Placerville is a place called Apple Hill, here is a blurb about it....

Apple Hill is located in and around Camino just east of Placerville in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains at about 3000 foot elevation (out of the valley fog and below the snowline).

Visit on an autumn weekend and you'll find apples, pumpkins, pony rides, face painting, crafts, wine tasting, music and homemade goodies such as apple pies and fresh-squeezed juice.

The Apple Hill Growers Association includes about 50 ranches.  By Labor Day (September 4th), most Apple Hill growers are open for visitors (some are open year-round) .  Watch the apples being squeezed for juice and the bakeries in operation.  Enjoy an old-fashioned picnic while visiting these working ranches.

SO, we thought a road trip in Oct would be just the ticket. So everyone from Nor Cal and So Cal, get thinking about it Sat. Oct 24th or the whole weekend.  There is so much to see and do in the area and its full of historical value too. I'm sure if there was enough interest we could book some motel rooms somewhere around there.  I will post more as we get closer too.

Here is a website if you want to know more...http://www.applehill.com/

So anyone out there who would be interested?

Hugs,
Barb

I was thinking of that place the other day, and going on Halloween weekend.
Can't make it the weekend before though.

The Camino 7 mile House is a cute B&B and affordable, they have rooms with twin beds to share too. I think that time of year fills up FAST too

Don't forget Oak Glen up abover Yucaipa, it's also a quaint little town for Apple Picking and all kinds of fun things to do.  It's about 20 minute or less from my house.

I love the idea of going apple picking, but unfortunately, I cannot go that weekend. I am working, at least the saturday. I am just back from vacation. Oh well, maybe next year.

Well, I found out I am less than an hour from Camino Ca.  I live in Citrus Heights and it is basically 45 miles away.  I just might have to have my family do a day trip out there and see what its all about.  I am originally from San Diego Cali, and we have Julian down there with there apple season. Best Dutch apple pie EVER!!! Ill have to see if it compares to that.
Thanks for the Info.!!
